Cat-House Sonnets, 100 poems celebrating cats. I was asked to post it here.

Words to a feral cat

Please, kitty, who is out there in the rain;
yes, you, whoâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s hungry, matted and so thin;
come now, because Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m telling you again:
just walk into the trap; Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll take you in.

I know you want your own forever home:
a place where warmth and food are yours by right;
a place from which youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll never have to roam
to find a cozy spot nor flee in fright.

You will find love and learn folks can be kind;
youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll realize all the joys of being cat:
someone will let you be and ease your mind;
and maybe someday youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll enjoy a pat.

So, kitty, wild and wary little one,
follow your hunger to the trap; donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t run.

Thank you so much for sharing that. It expresses so well what I wish the feral cats I've dealt with could understand.

I honestly had never knew that a poem like this had been written about Alley. Thanks for sharing.

People have often said that I get into cats' heads in my sonnets. I have a whole book of them: Cat-House Sonnets, 100 poems celebrating cats. I'd be delighted to autograph a copy for you. Just PM me if you'd like to buy one.
