I'm taking Ginger in for a check up and a kitten count at 5:00 (in 30 min). They will take an x-ray so we can get an idea of how many kittens there are and make sure there aren't any problems.

I'll update once we get back.

We're back now. She's doing great. The Dr. said that they took 3 different x-rays and had 3 Dr's looking at the x-rays. 2 of the Dr.s say she's having 4 kittens and 1 Dr. (Ginger's Dr.) says she's having 5. So once she's had 4 I'm supposed to call them if she doesn't have another one within 30 mins of the fourth one. So now all we have to do is wait.

While we were at the vets I asked the vet how many minutes between each kitten before there was an indication of a problem. He said no more than 30 minutes between each kitten. Since there is a question of how many kittens there are if there's not a kitten after the 4th one they want to see her just make sure she only has 4 and not retaining another one.

anne was in labour for over 4 hours before the first came out, then it was 1 1/2 hours before the second came out. i was always told that as long as she wasnt straning for more then 20 mins there isnt a need to worry. and unless there is a problem it isnt advised to move the queen at this time, would your vet be willing to come out to your home just to check on her unless there is a problem?

I think 30 minutes between kittens is a bit ambitious so I'm looking back at everyone elses experiences and trying to get an idea as to what I'm comfortable with. I've also printed out some papers on this so I'll go back through and read those to see what other vets have said. So if anyone wants to comment on how long it took with all their kitties please feel free to share.

i just wanted to add , your vet still knows best were not trying to say there wrong in any way. so still take their advice, or maybe speak to them again.

I just went to find the records I kept on each birth, complete with exact time of birth. I can't find Lady's but I've got Sasha & Missy's.

Sasha:
Kitten 1- 10:40 p.m.
Kitten 2- 11:19 p.m.
Kitten 3- 11:56 p.m.
Kitten 4- 12:56 a.m.
Kitten 5- 1:01 a.m.
The last two were very suprising and #5 was out before #4 was even cut loose yet.

Missy:
Kitten 1- 10:36 p.m.
Kitten 2- 10:39 p.m.
Kitten 3- 11:44 p.m.
Kitten 4- 12:43 a.m.

And with Lady's, I woke up around 4:30 and there was a kitten in with her. I went upstairs to use the bathroom and came back and there was a second kitten, it was probably 10 minutes. I was soooo tired and really had trouble sitting awake with her... I stayed up for an hour and when she hadn't had the third yet, I went to sleep but set my alarm for 30 minutes. When I got back up it had been an hour and a half since the second and she had just delivered #3. I set my alarm again after I checked the kitten out, and woke up to her giving birth again, it had been roughly 45 minutes. I set my alarm again after #4, woke up to nothing, set alarm, again, woke up again to nothing. It ended up being 2 hours between #4 & #5 because she took a long nap, LOL.

I will. I'm really thinking more for if she goes into labor in the middle of the night. They have an on-call Dr. and if it's not Ginger's Dr. (who already admitted he brings them in earlier than the other Dr.'s) I want to make sure I've allowed just the right amount of time to pass before I get someone else out of bed. Thanks.

Mushy started around 2:30 and was done with 4 kittens around 6:30. There was about 45 minutes between the 3rd and 4th kitten. I'm not sure about the other ones because I was sleeping and when I woke up saw 2 kittens already at 3:30... Good Luck!
