Is something wrong, or do I just worry too much?

My kitten Shinobi is usually full of energy, like kittens are. Yesterday, she spent the majority of the day following me, doing nothing but wanting to cuddle in my lap. I didn't see too much wrong with that, but this morning she seems to have gotten worse. She's lost all of her energy, has no interest in food or water, I haven't seen her use the litter box yet. She makes only a half-hearted attempt at playing, and she seems strangely afraid of everything, freaking out at minor things and clawing a track up my shoulder. She has no trouble walking or moving around (no balance issues, etc...), but for the most part, she just sits in a daze, looking not entirely awake. Our other kitten, Parrot, is just fine. I know I tend to worry about my animals more than I need to, but this behavior really is a change from the norm for her. What do you think?

I'd give the vet a call and see when you can take her in to be checked out - it could be anything. But since its a very noticed change; something is wrong.

an ice cube in Iowa...
I completely agree...any dramatic change in behavior really does warrant a trip to the vet. Don't spend a lot of time second-guessing yourself...you're her meowmy, and you need to trust your instincts! Let us know!

I just called the vet and they also recommend taking her in. She doesn't have an official vet yet, and they want $35 just to check her out. That doesn't even include treatment. I can't afford that, I have nothing. What do I do?

Call the vet and see if they can split the payments up or if they have a vet credit card you can apply for.

I wasn't able to get her to the vet today (I don't own a car, and it's far too hot in this area to try and bike her there), so I fed her some tuna (she won't eat cat food, but she'll eat some tuna), and let her sleep. She's doing a little better, I think, though she's slept most of the day. She's mildly playful, but only if I initiate it, and I still can't get her to take water, nor have I seen her use the litter box (Granted, I had to leave for a while, so it's possible she did, but doubtful). I'm not sure what to do... I have work tomorrow and I hate the idea of leaving her alone in the house in this condition. :/
