What litter are you using? If it's a clay litter, I'd be very very concerned.

How old is the cat? If it's a kitten it may well grow out of that phase.

If it's a corn or wheat litter I doubt it will hurt him much unless he's eating large amounts.

I agree. Any kind of clumping litter may clump inside of Givi's digestive organs and cause a blockage of some sort. I would go with a non-clumping litter until Givi deposits this habit. How old is Givi? He may well grow out of this, it may be a kitten stage. If this behavior just began, try to find the root of the problem. Has anything, and I mean absolutely anything changed in your life or household? Cats are extremely sensitive... Even turning the litterbox North-South instead of East-West can trigger a reaction...

Where whiskers abound.
What food is he eating? Is it premium? If he is eating the supermarket type or big box store type, he may not be getting enough nutrients and is resorting to eating the litter. Premium food is sold at small pet shops or feed stores. There are many posts regarding food here.
Just a thought.

I'd say most cat behavior problems and health problems begin with the FOOD.

I would suggest the World's Best Cat Litter (made from corn) or the Swheat Scoop (wheat based) as Sharky suggested and which they can digest. I personally found the Swheat Scoop to be a little too dusty.

Yes, I'd definitely find a vet that would address your issues better. Blood in the poop is not a good sign IMO and he may already have a blockage from the clay litter which needs to be taken care of, maybe even surgically removed. Please keep us informed as we all worry about the kitties, even when they aren't our own.

This could be a sign of something called Pica, and the vet should have done somthing about it. I would definitely change to a corn based litter that is safe for them to eat, and if he has blood in his poo, it could be that the litter eating has caused a problem.

ok, we switched the litter, first days he refused to go on that natural one, but now its okay i think. at least he doesnt eat it....but theres another issue. i think he is allergic to pine
i couldnt find any corn litter here, just the pine flakes. and his eyes started watering again..but maybe its just the leftover from that "big" allergy...i hope it is so. gonna visit the vet on thursday..
btw

well he eats Hills for kittens with chicken. before that he was eating Royal Kanin for kittens. Vet said that allergy might be caused by Royal Kanin too. long story short, now he doesnt eat litter anymo, and im visiting vet in couple of days, so ill keep u guys informed!
