I have been trying to adopt out the kittens i found under the porch though CraigsList. I put them in there with pics for a adoption fee.

Last week, someone posted that there was a person on there taking small adoption fee kittens and puppies to feed a SNAKE!!!

SO everytime now that i get a response, i feel weird, like EVERYONE is feeding snakes, ya know?

The B&W one went to a woman that jsut lost her 16 year old B&W, and she was like 60, so i know that was ok.

The tiger striped female went yesterday, to a young man that wa looking for that color for a while, and she was his present for graduating HS with honors, along with a $100 gift card for Petco from mom, and they drove 50 miles to come get her.

The last guy, i have named Dugan. A guy jsut emailed me about him, and is single, looking for a pet. hes in a apartment, and this would be his first pet. I told him all about getting the shots, neutering him, and getting him a playmate. he said he is fine with that. he said he would even be intrested in one of my fosters litter when there old enough so that Dugan would have a playmate he already knows. i was like ok. but i dunno, it jsut freaks me out. I have to trust, but i dunno. do i sound silly?
i did ask, and he said he has NO other pets, but ppl could lie. Guess im on the fence about it.

Go with your gut! I learned the hard way by ignoring it more than once and having things turn out badly. Thankfully it was nothing to do with any of my animals.

I dont think its silly to worry about that at all. You never know what people can do and how well they can hide it. Id say just go with your gut instict. If someone comes in that just gives you the heebie jeebies tell them to take a hike!

well, i have been talking to him over emails, and i got up the gumption to ask about snakes. the guy says he is scared to death of them, wont go into a friends house cause the friend has one, and his gf is the same way.

for some weird reason, once he said gf, i felt a bit better!

I think females in general are better associated with cats. No offense guys but you never hear about the crazy old cat man with 50 cats on his front porch...Its always the lady with the mu-mu house dress and slippers with some blue hair thats messed up sitting out on the porch going hereeeee kitty kitty kitty. LOL....

I'd say go with your gut as well.

I'm in the middle of adopting a new kitten and the fosterer for the cats protection asked me lots of questions about Rosie and Sophie along with others. Unknown to me i was going through my first check because at the end of the conversation she said they can tell from peoples voices and their attitude if their ok or not.

Did the person that posted about the snake man/girl have an email address? If so, I would send him/her an email asking for any sort of description (i.e. email address, name of the person etc.).

they actually did, and told me that one of the ppl doing it was caught and sent to jail for over a year for " absolute cruel and unsual treatment of animals". they posted the news article too.

that's true! It was my DH that went looking for our fur-kids and I think he did get the once-over plus one from the rescue folks! Once I got more involved, it was much better...I think wife= family environment to a lot of people, single man= odd

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with trusting your gut. These are precious little lives you have in your hands. Your gut told you to get to know this guy better and it sounds like he's a good one.

All that means is that he knows the right questions to ask. Unfortunately, it might be because he's done this a lot.
If you don't trust him, don't do it, and definitely follow your instincts!

Is there any way you could deliver the kitten, and then you could check out his place? That is, if he answers your email again.

Well, the guy WAS too good to be true!! he never answered my emails, and backed out. So now i have re-put the kitten back up for adoption, and go back though emails. UGH.

I tried contacting the people that wanted him before, but seems no one is answering emails. YIKES.lol. Aww well. I might call back the person that wanted to foster them to begin with, she still emails.

And at least i KNOW the foster kittens have homes, well all but but 2. but there only 6 weeks, so they have some time yet.

Yeah, if someone all of a sudden backs out or doesn't respond to emails or phone calls- there is probably a reason! The reason is that they aren't serious (probably). You don't want someone that is blowing you off like this, you want to find a home that is dedicated and actually interested. It's ok, you have time still. Wouldn't you rather hold on to the kitties for a little longer to find the RIGHT home, versus adopting out the kitties ASAP to the WRONG home? Chin up, it'll be ok!
