Found stray Kitten

Early this morning I found a stray orange kitten in our neighborhood. I have not seen any other kittens or even cats around here, so I'm guessing he is alone. I know our neighborhood is huge for drop-offs because it is quiet and dead at night.

Anyway, he seems to be about 4-5 weeks old I am guessing. he has his teeth but he is very small. Blue eyes still. Orange color. He is eating wet food I have mixed with KMR. He is actually using the litter box pretty well and drinking water well. There is no Runny poop or vomiting.

My main question is. Of course he is very frightened. He will let me hold him for a little bit but pretty much runs away and hides most the day. He has hissed at me a couple times, but that seems to have calmed down a bit. Do you think I will be able to tame him so he can be a nice pet? I would like to keep him, but I also have kids and another kitten, so I want them to be safe.

awwwww how wonderful you are to take him in! I am sure more knowledgable people will be along soon. All I can suggest is to give him his own little area where he can feel safe, a bathroom for example, with a little litter box, food, water and a place he can tuck himself away. When he feels more secure, he will come out more and more.
He is missing his mom and probably other siblings and who knows what the people who dumped him did to him
