I am travelling with 4 cats on Westjet next weekend. They are going in the hold. 2 of them will be in an extra large kennel. The other 2 will be in seperate kennels. (I know I must be crazy but really there is a very good reason for travelling with them).
I understand that there is a calming spray that one can spray the kennels with. Has anyone used such a thing or can you suggest something that I can use.

Thank you

I think its called Feliway - people have mentioned it before. Will the airlines allow 2 cats in the same carrier in cargo - I thought each had to have a separate carrier (unless its mom and kitten)?

Feliway works really well to calm kitties. You really don't want to give them anything stronger because it is more important that they are loud and healthy than quiet and sick.

I'm not familiar with WestJet, but I know that some airlines are kinder to their cargo passengers than others. I've heard that Delta is the best; they will give food and water to your cat on the flight where most others only give water.

Thank you I will check with PetSmart to see if they carry this. I was at our store today and nobody could help me. They did not seem to know there own products.
I have spoken to the airlines and as long as we have a large enough cage they will allow the two cats to be together. They actually are twins they came out of the same sack and are very close so I hope that it works. Unfortunetly the airline only had three spaces not four so this seemed to be the best solution.
The lady I spoke to at WestJet assured me that WestJet employess are "furry animal friendly" it sounded like the TV commercial.

I bought Feliway from our vet's office. Give the carriers a quick spray before you put your kitties in.

We've done three 2000+ kilometer moves with two cats (before Feliway). Not the best situation but we all survived. Oberon still gets very nervous if he sees me with a cardboard box.

I just wanted to write and let you know that I bought the Feliway Spray today from PetCo and I sprayed it into my kitten's carrier...I'm going to spray once more tonight and then wait 20 mins (as stated by the directions) and then put her into it for a car ride to see how she reacts...
I'll definitely let you know how it works!
My vet told me that it works for some cats and doesn't work for others. She said the best thing to do it just feed her treats inside the carrier and play with her around it to get her used to it. Other than that, put a shirt that smells like me into the carrier and put a blanket over it while traveling so that it is dark and she will fall asleep (after tiring herself out from pawing to get out)
