I was wondering if anyone else here had sugar gliders or ferrets(I have both). I thought it might be fun to open a thread to brag about them.

I would love to own two sugar gliders but the bf tells me absolutely not, and Im not sure that cats would be fans either. I have researched them a great deal, so if he ever changes his mind I am prepared. I doubt that will happen. You are very lucky and your babies are too cute!

Not to be nosey, but may I ask why your BF won't let you have gliders? If it's money, then you should post a wanted ad on the craigslist in your area and also keep your eyes open on Petfinder. I got mine for just $30 and they cam with the cage and everything! The only catch was that they had hardly been handled in 2 years!
However, in just a few weeks I was able to get one of them(Sugar) to let me handle her without biring and Spice will let me pet him, but he doesn't yet like to be handled.

Also, if the reason is because they are alot of work, well, they really aren't. The first couple days are a little crazy, but after that it's easy as pie. Simply buy a couple fruits and veggies and cut them up into small pieces and freeze them. Then make and freeze BML in an ice cube tray. That way, at night, you just toss all the frozen stuff onto a plate at about 9pm and it will be thawed by the time they wake up.

BTW, my hubby told me I couldn't get gliders either, but heck, I had been wanting gliders since I was 12 years old and there was no way in h*ll that I was going to let him keep me from my dream, LOL! Guess what, now they are his favorite! The other day Spice even glided on his head and hubby loved it, heehee!

Ok, now, for the pics. I don't have many of the gliders because I can't take alot of pics with flash(it hurts their eyes) and the ones without flash turn out horrible, but here are the few that I DO have:

Sugar and Spice:

Here are some pics of my ferrets too!

Awww! He wont let me have them because he doesnt want anymore pets. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 cats and fish! I have to abide by the rules, he pays the rent
Also he isnt keen on the idea that they chatter and make noises, are active during the night (but so are the cats), etc. I have no issue with it, but after he read about them he was turned off... Plus he thinks they are ugly... I think they are the cutest thing ever. I will have me some sugargliders one day! Yours are lovely btw. The cost isn't the issue. I see them on craigslist all the time... Except I want two because they thrive better in a community than they do solo. Everyone on craigslist tries to sell them at a high rate and single (they never have a pair), which makes me wonder if the glider has health issues.... I have read that a glider may have depression issues and such if it is kept isolated from other gliders, or if it does not obtain alot of physical interaction with it's owner!

ROFL!!!2-bedroom apartment with just 2 cats and a fish tank? I live in a 1-bedroom apartment with 3 cats, 3 ferrets, and 2 sugar gliders! ROFL!!! The amazing thing, as long as I keep up with the litter boxes, there are no smell issues! M apartment actually smells good!

As far as noise, they really don't make very much. The main noise they make is called "crabbing" and they only do that if you annoy them. They will sometimes "bark"(sound like a little chihuahua barking, only quieter). However, they've never woken me up by barking. In fact, I can only remember them doing it twice. I have my gliders in my bedroom and my hubby HATES being woken up at night, but so far they have yet to wake him up.
The only noise I hear at night is the "tick, tick" of their nails on the plate while they are eating or when running in the wheel.

It's true that they do better in a group then by themselves. However, if you just wanted to get one then you should get a young one(so it's easier to bond with) and you need to give it alot of one-on-one time. As long as you spend plenty of time with it, he/she should be fine. You can always add more gliders in the future.

The only time they get depressed is when their cagemate is taken away/dies or if you suddenly stop spending time with them. They need alot of interaction, whether it be from another glider or you.
