Well, I took our new cat Clyde in to the vet today for his shots and to look at his eye, which is always running. I've been giving him L-Lysine for months now, and it doesn't really seem to work. Well, that was because I was assuming it was Herpes, and it isn't - it's a blocked tear duct!

Sooooo...has anyone here ever done anything for a blocked tear duct - since my vet really doesn't think surgery would be indicated here. Are there any homeopathic remedies anyone has tried?

I don't know of any homeopathic remedies, but Swanie had / has a blocked tear duct according to the vet. When we first got him, I noticed all this black gunk in his nose. Took him to the vet, and she didn't think it was a problem. Then his eye started to water (some time later), so we took him back. She did the test and said it was a blocked tear duct, nothing needed to be done about it, but she gave us Bausch & Lomb Moisture Eyes Liquid Gel, with GENTOCIN 0.25 added in case there was an infection. We put drops in his eye every 12 hours for 7 days, and it totally cleared up his eyes watering. He still gets a bit of the black gunk in his nose, but not all the time (I notice he has some in there now).
