Hi,
Last week I adopted a 6 month old kitten from the local shelter. We also have a 12 year old cat as well. I kept the kitten in a separate room for one week because he was getting over a cold. Our 12 year old has seen him through the door, etc. Yesterday we tried to introduce the 2 together and naturally our 12 year (Toby) hissed and growled at the little one (Tigger). Tigger was out in the living room for about a half hour and then runs back to the room we had him confined in. He refuses to come out on his own and I'm wondering should we continue to bring him out there or let him come out on his own? Our eldest Toby continues to hiss, but doesn't go in the room that Tigger is in. I'm wondering how long does it take for them to get to know each other? Or what other tricks I should try?
Thanks for any feedback.
