Okay, well the babies are turning 4 weeks old on Thursday & Friday
. And I cannot believe its been that long already, time really flies! If I remember right, I can worm then and mom at 4 weeks old right? When I find out when I can worm them, I will be getting wormer from the vet (panacur is what the vet gives us) and worming them. I may be crazy but i'm actuallylooking forward to this. Not giving the medicine to them.. But i actually have no idea why....

I have not had a kitten in a looonng time.. Since Keisha was a baby, almost 5 years ago. So I was wondering what the vaccination schedule was?.....

I don't know about the vacination schedule, but I do remember that you can start worming at 4 weeks. However IMO that sounds a little too early to me and I have heard of some bad things happening to kittens right after they were wormed. Can anyone clear this up for me?

IMO I would not worm them unless they've been checked by the vet to find out what kind they have. In a controlled enviroment where the parents have been checked and cleared and there is no reason for kittens to have worms, worming is NOT done.

If these are stray kittens then yes they probably have them, but you need to have them checked first.

I think the vaccination schedule started at about 6 weeks for the first shots - check with your vet on what they recommend.

The weird thing is our barn cats were never wormed and Ling was born from barn cats. She was checked by the vet when given her shots - she was cleared - she didn't have them, never has.

So I dont agree with the statement that I've heard about ALL cats should be wormed automatically - you verify then go from there.

I've heard not to start their vaccinations until 8 weeks since before then the mother's antibodies are still in their system(if they are still nursing) and the vaccine might not work as effectively)
I'm not quite sure on vaccination schedules since my little guy had to have extra ones since I found him in a ditch. I know with dogs its usually 8, 12, and 16 weeks.

8 weeks would be true IF mom was already vaccinated and the kits were nursing. But if they are strays the mom probably has no vaccinations at the time and can't pass them to kittens - so 6 weeks would be better to start. But talk to the vet - maybe they would recommend the 8 weeks either way

our vets normaly do vacs at around 7 weeks then at 11 weeks.
i normally start worming at 6-7 weeks, but only because i sometimes get flees in the house due to one of our cats not being able to have flee meds so we now and again get them.

Yeah well, i'm pretty sure that kalli has worms. And my sister swears that she saw one on her bum.. She lived outside for the most part before she delivered. And she would eat mice, birds, and all that stuff. Which i'm sure she got worms from. But we can get her and kittens checked out to see what worms she and the kittens have... It would be good for them to get checked out anyway.
We wanted to get her wormed when she waspregnant, but the vet said that we should wait untill the kittens are born.

Yeah Kalli wasnt vaccinated before, because she came with the house, and she was pregnant. So then we probably will start at 6 weeks....
