Very cool! I am a jewelry freak... you are so thoughtful! And she is lucky!
I have a piece that needs to be picked up from our jeweler... I had a piece of rutilated quartz set in a pendant.

I love how those new topaz colors look, although I prefer natural stones and colors to stones that have been treated to look a certain way. But that's just me... I'm a purist, but I do love to look at shiny things from all sources.

I think it makes a very stately ring, but it would have been pretty as a pendant too. I think maybe it makes more of a statement, or has more "impact" when you see it as a ring since it's very unusual.. at least to me.

Beautiful!

It's lovely

I would have probably done the pendant thing for myself. Also so far as rind design I really like the box setting, but I would have made the 2 shorter sides of the setting shaped like a W so that light could get in and reflect the stone's brilliance a bit more.

Very lovely though. I'm sure your wife is thrilled with it

Is that what they call a mystic topaz? The interplay of the colors... it's hypnotic! What do they call that style of cut?

Looks good to me, Bruce!
I like rings and remember - whatever makes Itta happy, makes you happy!

I concur. Mystic Topaz is a white topaz that has a coating on it to get the colors.

Love a good rutilated quartz myself. The coatings on white topaz do give us colors that are rare or don't exist in nature. IMO - a white topaz properly cut can look like a fine diamond. Ask my niece! She has a large white topaz ring and people always ask "Is is real?". She replies it is. It is a real topaz.

It looks like a variation of the emerald cut.
