RE: My stray kitten with engorged teats...

She is indeed a mother of three LIVE kittens. (Had them in a neighbor's convertible before she showed up here.) She does not seem to want to take care of them and the neighbor had to start feeding the kittens with a bottle. Momma still stays on our porch most of the day and disappears during the night.

Just thought I'd give you an update.

Hjrd,

Well I'm glad that mystery has been solved. I'm glad your neighbor has taken over for the mama. The first thing I would try to do is get her fixed. This way there will be no more surprizes.

I am assuming your neighbor knows what to do with kittens so young as far as feeding AND making them go potty. It takes alot of patience with small kittens. They need to be fed every 3 to 4 hours. Once their fed, your neighbor needs to take a soft cloth and stimulate them in order to get them to urinate and deficate.

Keep us posted please!

I have two indoor cats that I've raised since they were a week old, so I went over the "what to do's" that I learned back then ( I especially remember the potty part!!!). She said the people at the pet store where she bought the milk gave her some instructions.

She has no idea where the momma came from either and was surprised to see kittens on her convertible's floorboard.

The vet's office said to allow two weeks for the milk to dry up and then she can be spayed. Found a low cost spaying clinic to take her to when the time comes, so I guess I have three cats now. The neighbor has already found homes for the kittens when she feels she can let them go.

All's well that ends well!

I'm glad to hear they are well taken care off. You and your neighbors are very good people - thank you!
