Last week, I applied to become a mystery shopper and I just got an email saying that they want me to do it. Apparently they want me to try and buy cigarrettes without getting asked for my ID.

I am excited, this sounds like fun. You get paid between $7 and $20 for every assignment plus they pay for whatever you have to buy while shopping.

I just got another email about doing my online training so I am going to do that now.

I always thought that would be a fun job! We had to "watch" for those at Bob Evans when I worked there. We were always supposed to do things that the mystery shopper's sheet said we were supposed to do for every customer.

That is even more awesome that they pay for the stuff you buy!

Yea I always thought it would be fun too! When I worked at a certain chocolate company our store was paranoid about them because they always came in once a month. We learned their "tricks" or more or less the piece of paper they filled out, so most of us were complimented.

Somedays I go back and "pretend" to be one

i used to mystery shop. I was stuck with the company that only needed me to go to fast food and Staples. So it kind of sucked. I want to find the ones where you go see movies.

catlover, can you send me a PM with a link to the company's site that you use? If you don't mind. I would like to start up again.

I have never heard of mystery shopping, I don't think they have nothing like that in Mississippi.

They do have it in Mississippi. I looked on the website. Theres not nearly as many jobs to do there, there was only 19 in the whole state. Mystery shopping is where you go and anonymously (sp?) shop and see if the employees are doing their job properly.

My first job is probably going to be going to a variety store and trying to buy cigarettes without ID and if they ask for it you have to tell them you forgot it or something and see if they will sell it. You have to be between 19 and 21 to do this one because they want to see who they are selling cigarettes to. Signs always say anyone who looks under 25 will get asked for ID.

I guess I just live in my own little world.

It must be in a big city or something if it is in Mississippi.

That sounds like a lot of fun. If I had more time I would do it...I guess I already am a mystery shopper in the sense that I don't know why I buy half the stuff I do

I was a mystery shopper once. I had to order pizzas to be delivered to my home then rate the pizza and mail in the form. I had to do this once a month - and I did it until I got sick of the taste of that particular pizza place's sauce.

Good luck. When I was working for a job posting website we had problems with mystery shoppers ads - the companies may view you as self employed - check that out because then you have to contact CRA to make appropriate tax deductions on your own and declare it differently then usual employment on you taxes.
