the expression in for a penny in for a pound applies to me for sure. i took in a pregnant cat as a favor. i have fostered before and helped rescues in the past so it wasn't a big problem. mom and kittens are doing ok the kittens are about 3 weeks old but i noticed the mom is eating and pooping way more than normal we fill the food and water bowl at least 3 times a day or more. also she seems to be getting bigger. one more thing i learned is before i got her she was locked up with the kittens and a male cat for two weeks. can a cat get pregnant again with in the first two weeks after giving birth? if so how do i tell? will this affect how well she can feed her kittens? i have kept her in and away from the male since i got her so if she is it had to be before i got her. any advice would be great thanks

Wow there seems to be a lot of this happening lately!

If the male is intact, you can bet she's pregnant almost for sure. Female cats can go into heat and breed almost the day of giving birth.

Yes, it can affect how well she feeds her kittens. Make sure she's on high-quality kitten food. I'd also DEFINATELY recommend supplementing her diet with plain yoghurt(NO sugar or high fructose corn syrup added) so keep up her calcium levels.

I'd highly recommend bringing her in to see a veterinarian, who can first more than likely palpate to see if there are kittens inside her, and then give you indepth information on how to care for her. Since her kittens are so young, you probably won't be able to get her spayed to terminate the pregnancy.

It's too bad this happened! As soon as you're able, you'll need to get her spayed.. but you'll probably have a second litter on your hands before that can happen.

Yes, it's extremely possible for her to be pregnant. My brother's cat got pregant a week after giving birth!

I sure hope she isn't pregnant, my prayers are with you and mama cat.
