Nuh uh...might give me away!
So, I have an oval shaped face and somewhat long hair (it reaches to my bra in the back). I have long layers and side bangs and it's thick (though it's only because I have a LOT of baby fine hair). I struggle with volume, so wearing it down all the time really doesn't appeal to me.

Here's what I have recently tried:

lots of product + curling iron = cute modern-Farrah hair.
hair spray + bobby pins = slight poof on top with sides brought up for a half up style (have gotten tons of compliments on this one!)

Are headbands in? If so, how are they worn?

Also, I work in a business casual environment, so it can't be a messy style (but I can wear messy styles for fun!
).

So, I'd appreciate any thoughts/suggestions that you all might have. If all else fails, I have a haircut scheduled for next Wed and I can talk to my stylist then (even though she's not the "OMG we should do this" kind of stylist, lol).

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I have pretty thin hair too, and the only way for me to get body and shape is to keep it shorter- like chin length! I get a lot of volume & style, more so than when its longer! I don't know if you want to chop all of your hair off tho

I prefer longer hair on me (I look really young with short hair). lol Let me see if I can find some pictures of me for comparison.

I'm second from the left in this picture, just so you can kind of see how long my hair is (sorry it's such a cruddy pic).

And many years ago (I think I was 20 when it was taken, even if I look about 18 or younger):

i have insanely thick hair. and it's fine. i was wearing it in a bob for a while. but no one was cutting it right (tried a few places). so it wouldn't lay right. then i found a good stylist at Regis, and did a couple more bobs. i finally had it, and 2 months ago cut it all off into a spikey pixie cut. the last time i had it this short was in college, and i can't figure out why i ever grew it back out.

before i cut my hair off i was using headbands. my sister said they were cute (and didn't say they were out--she's more girly than i am).

Headbands & ponytail holders are in style right now... so are braids and 'youthful' looks like that.

Layers help to add volume, so why not have some layers put in, to puff it up a lil?

Erm, I am the worst person to ask for for hair advice..My hair is either up, or down..I have sat in front of the mirror for hours with billions of pins, barettes, and elastics and I can't come up with anything

Ask Heather (Luckygirl)...She seems to be into that stuff

See, that's my problem too. The way my hair is fixed today I learned this weekend by hanging out with "girly" girls, lol. I don't want to wear a ponytail to work, because I look so young with my hair like that.
I know, I know...I'll love that fact when I'm 40, but I'm not 40 right now, heehee.

Anyway, thanks!!!

I'm horrible at this since whenever I get bored with my hair I either dye it to death or shave my head (waaaay before Britney - she just wanted to be me!
)

But...

There's a cool site http://www.thehairstyler.com/ when you can upload a pic of yourself and then try on like a million hair styles. It's something like $14.95 for three months and they don't automatically recharge your card when it expires (or at least they didn't when I signed up). I really liked it - and considering other sites charge $14.95 or more per month, it's a nice deal.

HTH!
