So after returning from my trip, my house is so dirty, and im quite angry because i have the feeling the girl i gave the responsability to look after the cats to, didnt come over like she should have been.

special cat diet wet food was all over the hallway and loungeroom and bedroom, everything was ripped open, the cats literally spread the cat litter everywhere, i even have some on the bed! today is thursday and i came home on monday afternoon, due to work i had to leave everything like it was! Now I'm stuck cleaning!

How long does it take you to clean the house normally? I have dust bunnies and cat fur balls everywhere. T&K got a good brush down yesterday they are malting like crazy due to the weather.

My apartment is pretty small, but i feel like it takes HOURS to clean and yet it never looks clean enough.

I also wanted an opinion, next weekend im flying to london, ill be gone from Friday night but ill be back on Sunday night, I really dont want the other girl to come around to look after the cats, do you think its too long for me to be away?

Last weekend i had a feeling that i didnt trust the girl, so i left out 3 bowls of food and a big big pot of water, their water bowl was empty and so were the two bowls of food empty. Which im so glad i left so much stuff out for them!

I feel really guilty but I have noone else i can trust, my best friend who I truly rely on is going away at the same time!

IF only Tricia lived around the corner!

so your gone for 2 days? i think if you leave enough dry food and water they should be fine.

that is the bad part of have pets, is finding people to trust when you have to leave.

Ha! no way am i getting her to look after them while i am in australia!

I have another good friend who loves cats who will look after them! she just moved down the road, and my other friend catherine will be coming around too. There is still a chance my mother will be coming here to look after them. (i have that sorted!)

For the london weekend im just worried because my friend catherine and the other friend Sue who live down the road will be away too, and i dont want to get the girl to look after them as i dont think she deserves it

They should be fine. Just have a look around and make sure theres nothing that could cause an accident with them, and i don't know how many litterboxes you have, but i would leave another one out with it not getting scouped for a couple of days, and obviously plenty of kibbles and water

The max we will leave the cats w/o supervision is 4 days.

We put tons of extra food bowls out (3 are normally out so we'll put out 6 or 7 just filled).

Same amount of water bowls

An extra litter box if you have it.

I live in a one bedroom apartment. Before I got sick it took about 2 or 3 hours. But since I've been ill it takes me all week just to:

1. Vacuum the hard wood floor in the dining room/living room/hallway, tile floor in the kitchen and bathroom, and my furniture.
2. Clean the cat litter, bathroom sink and toilet (not the tub).

By the time I get all of that done it's time to do it all over again.

Dusting wasn't getting done and it had been literally 2 years since I had managed to get into my bedroom to clean it other than to changing the bedding., and if my floors were washed once in 2 months I was lucky.

I now have homecare coming in to do basic cleaning for me. They vacuum the floors, mop the floors, clean my bathroom and dust. Homecare does not vacuum furniture though, so I have to do that myself.

If I need her too, she will also clean out my fridge, clean the oven, do laundry...but so far I've been managing to do my own laundry with my apartment sized washer.

I didn't realize how much energy I was expending on trying to clean until I saw her do it all in 2 hours! What she managed to do in 2 hours would have taken me a week and a half to clean the bedroom, dust and mop the floors too.

She comes every 2 weeks and in the week that she's not here I do what I can. Basically just keep my dishes done, laundry and vacuum all of the floors except the bedroom one. I don't usually manage to get to the dusting though

I agree with the others-I have left mine for 2-3 nights with plenty (probably too much) food and water and an extra litter box-I will shut a couple of the bedroom off and leave the toilet seats up in case they want to drink from them!!
I wonder if your friend came over more than once??
I have a nice sized house and depending on how thorough the cleaning it cam take 4-6 hours!!! (mom and dad coming tomorrow so I better start!)
Did you have a good visit with your parents??

I dont know if the girl came over at all! T&K were angry but at the same time seeking for loving and we just caught up on that yesterday so i didnt get much of the cleaning done

Yeah well as most of you know, my mums an alcoholic and well, my trip wasnt too overwelming I couldnt wait to get out of there.

I have a one bedroom apartment, its quite small but it feels like it takes me hours to clean!

I guess two nights isnt bad, i spoke to my mum on msn and she told me if they lived through last weekend the next one wont be bad.
