I'm sooo happy!
A few weeks ago Colin gave me the ok to redo the guest bathroom. The former owners absolutely left it in disarry- they painted over an emerald green color with his Horrible tacky (and every other vile work i can think of) light light greenish blue color (ok it doesn't sound bad- but ya'll have no idea how horrid it looked!!!). They also did a very bad job of painting it and got it EVERYWHERE. It looked horrid. There were also dents in the wall left from their children, a dent in the door where they didn't have a doorstop and slammed the door into the wall, etc....and to top it off- i FINALLY figured out what the nasty brown stains on my wall were (obviously i didn't want to even know
) the painter said it was nicotine - yuck! it had bled through the paint and stained soo bad even the "goof off" wouldn't take it off. Yet another reason i hate smoke
Colin and I aren't smokers and didn't realize what those stains were- we had tried and tried to get them out but nothing had worked- now we know. They had also painted the ceiling two different shades of white and it looked aweful and splotchy. The mirror was scratched and broken in places (just a sheet glass mirror- nothing fancy). So after saving up for a while and setting a little money aside, i finally called out a painter yesterday to get an estiment (actually several different ones). I found one who is excellent
He gave me several references- i called all of them and got nothing but good remarks, has over 20+ years experience, lisenced/insured, BBB, you name it! I'm soo happy too! The bathroom is going to look lovely when it's finished!!!

The color I decided on is called Roasted Pepper (and i had them add a little extra white to the shade) - it's a beautiful red color by Ferrel Calhoun - a locally owned/opereated paint buiness- the paint is formulated especially for this humid climate and is excellent
It's a Satin finish so it's lovely but still a little glossy
The trim is going to be white (i was going to go with chocolate- but since it's a smaller space i think the white will open it up a bit better.) I also was able to find a new mirror/shower curtain/ towels (colin had EVERYTHING in nasty navy blue
that's what happens when my boyfriend decorates
) The shower curtain is gold/tan/chocolate thinly stripped and the towels are chocolate (so i did get a bit of the chocolate color i wanted
) I found a lovely mirror- it's HUGE on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond (as well as the other stuff) after going to 5 different places to look for one. It's a dirty gold color and looks awesome with the paint color/towels/shower curtain.

I plan to also add this as an accent piece when i get some extra $ to go on the wall across from the mirror. The colors in this are gorgeous and it brings out every color that the bathroom will be done with and looks sooooo classy!! I love it!
http://www.pier1.com - the patina squares under the wall decor section

what do ya'll think? I'm going to see if i can borrow my mom's camera when it's all finished so i can snap some pictures!
I'm sooo happy about this! I've been saving up for several months now to do this and it's great to finally see it all comming together!

Sounds like it will be beautiful, and best of all you don't have to do the work yourself!! Can't wait to see pics.

Thankyou!!!

I was origionally going to paint the bathroom myself but when i started adding up the costs of supplies, paint, drywall, things to fix the dents in the walls, other repairs that needed to be made, etc, ...it was just more reasonable to hire a professional with good credentials. So that's what i did
I'm very pleased with the person i decided on- so far he's done a great job and i can not wait to see the finished product! He's making a lot of repairs as well so that's only going to add to the value of our home if we ever sell it/etc

That sounds great Nikki! Gold and chocolate look really nice together! We're actually redoing our bathroom too this summer. I've been wanting to do it since we bought the house 1 1/2 years ago. I want to get new floor tiles, a double sink vanity, and paint the walls a pale blue color. We're going to Lowes to get an estimate this weekend. Good luck to you!

Thanks Jenny!
The gold and chocolate accents go sooooo well with the color of the paint- i just love it! I can't wait to see it all finished! (hopefully it will all be done by friday as far as paint goes so i can decorate!). He just came back over a little while ago to finish adding stuff to the wall to repair it. He's comming back in an hour after it dries to scrape and smooth everything and hopefully prime the wall with grey (red is transparent so if it's not primed - it takes on the color behind it- so you want a darker color primer- green or grey - apparently orange and yellow are the same way from what i've learned from him- takes several coats of those colors. ). Tomorrow when i get off work he's going to start painting the first coat
I am sooo thrilled!!!
Your bathroom sonds like it's going to be GORGEOUS when it's all said and done!!!! - Lowes had some nice vanity sinks/fixtures when i looked yesterday (better than home depot and more of a selection- the prices were better too- i just didn't see one that i LOVED for our bathroom size)- be sure to check out Bed Bath & Beyond for some of the accessories as well as Pier 1 around sales time!! They have great quality stuff that if you shop around you can find great deals on!!! Also- Target had some nice toilet paper holders, trash cans, towel bars, etc when i looked there yesterday that were inexpensive as well!!
What shade of blue are you going to paint your bathroom?? My old bedroom back at my mom's house we did in "Midnight Blue" and oh my - it was stunning!!! (it's nowhere near as dark as it sounds- as we had a light white primer behind it so the color showed lighter
) Have fun!!!!

I can't wait to see pictures when you're done!!!

We actually have all of our bathroom accessories (they were on our wedding registry last year), so I'm going to paint the walls the same shade of blue that is in them. Here is the link:

We have pretty much everything except the shower curtain because our shower has a glass door. Oh and I'm not sure if I'm going to get the rug.
