How much fun is a cat show? (Silly post, I know.)

I tried Charlie in the agility ring in his first show (kitten). They are free running in the enclosed area. You can try, but if your kitten is like Charlie, they will be far too interested in what's going on outside the ring to pay attention to what YOU want them to do.

If we get another chance, I may take the laser lite with me to try again.

Haha, yeah, that's what I was wondering. I just can't picture putting my kitty in a new place with new smells, sounds, etc and then trying to get him to run a course. Seems pretty doubtful (especially being a kitten) but I'll give it a try. Just for fun, obviously, and maybe it will help him stretch his legs a bit since he'll be cooped up all day.

Charlie is such a champ- He was probably just interested in checking out his competition!! "Oh my whiskers are wayyyyy hotter than his....."

No actually it was more of "what's behind this curtain....food????" And "why is the box just sitting there?" and "WHO are those people watching me?"

hahahaha... Silly kitties.
I'll let you know how Rowdy does in the agility ring, but I have a feeling the outcome will be similar.

Rowdy thinks everything is steak- particularly Tina's leg (or her face).

This why I voted that I loves cat shows- I get to go around picking up bargains and when the cats are happy I'm happy

If you go, expecting wins and don't get any, you will be disappointed.

Which kitty are you showing? Pictures?

btw, the date is off on the pic. I took that one late December 2005. She is around 3 years old now.

here ya go

http://www.geocities.com/stuffed_starfish/100_0985.JPG Chloe

http://www.geocities.com/stuffed_starfish/100_0978.JPG Luna (the other kitty I'll be taking to Raleigh)

http://www.geocities.com/stuffed_starfish/100_0983.JPG Samantha - Chloe's companion who came here with her. My uncle had this cat for 16 years. As far as I know, he'll be taking her back as soon as he gets his own house.

As for Chloe, I told him I'd take care of her as my cat (actually am about to get her license under my name, which I also told him) so that he wouldn't give her away. The only thing he has to do is let her live with him. I still live with my mother and she doesn't want another kitty here permanently. The poor kitty was impulsively adopted by his soon to be ex-wife and he doesn't have the funds to give her shots and spay her (which I did), but he loves her too much to just dump her at an animal shelter. So I figured if I make her my kitty, but have her live with him when he gets a new home, which will hopefully be soon.

Edit: The first picture has the date wrong again, but it's fixed as you can see for the other ones. I took 'em all today.

OMG Star! That is one of the BEST looking 16 yr old Siamese - look at the coat - its still LIGHT on the body! A lot of siamese (especially the seals) tend to have almost a solid looking dark body by that time. She must have some nice Siamese lines in the background to retain the light body.

Would almost guess there could be Singa lines in there somewhere - that cattery produced the whitest coats on Siamese in the 50's/60's and retained the light body well into years

Maybe... the cat's from New York, so maybe they have good lines up there.
Regardless, that cat means a lot to him. She's the most faithful female - cat or human - he's had, so she's very special.

I believe the Singa lines were out of that area - don't remember but it would be cool if you could trace pedigree back and see

I agree- You have some gorgeous kitties! I don't know anything about the Singa line or anything like that, but I can tell pretty kitty when I see it.... haha.

It will be great to see ya' at the show next month! I'm so excited- I can't wait! You will hear me refer to my kitty as "Rowdy", but his official show name is going to be "Stonehenge Aces Wild". (Originally it was Ace of Spades, but the "of" was throwing me off because it isn't a cattery name so I had to change it.)

Some of you were interested in seeing the pictures of my kitty after he got his first bath. The bath happened this evening- He was VERY well behaved! I'm not sure if I was as thorough as some people might be. I didn't get his legs or belly very well.... Do you think I should focus more on those areas next time? Here are the pics...

As long as they are clean, that's what matters - he looks ok to me. You'll have to see how the fur feels and lays down after all dried. I hope you didn't use the blow dryer on him - just air dry and keep smoothing down with your hands.

He should be clean. My husband did "spike" his fur a little for the photos. He said that he was disappointed that he didn't look like he was washed.

I didn't use a blow dryer, per your (or someone's) suggestion. He is air drying in his room- dry by now, I suppose. i'm having to keep him separated from Tina because she had surgery this past weekend (long story) and is having to wear an elizabethan collar for a week or so. She is miserable and his attacks probably wouldn't be appreciated right now!
