I have a 13 yr old indoor cat who has never gone anywhere. We will be leaving for a 6 week road trip. I have been unable to find someone to stay in the house (for less than $1,000 ($25/day)). There is a neighbor who in the past watchs him while out of town (<7 days), food, fresh water, litter box and visits (2x/day). I would love to take him but concerned with his age the stress it would cause. I have tried just taking him and sitting in the parked car, but after about 5 minutes he starts meowing. Done this several times with it not getting better. Any ideas on how to make him also want this. Do you think it is better to try and take him, or let him stay in his own home - the only world he has known (but it is for such a long time).

At his age and the fact that he's not a seasoned traveller, its best to leave him home with someone to care for him. I know its expensive, but he'd be happier at home and I know you'd probably never forgive yourself if he died when travelling from stress or something.

BTW where in the heck are you going for 6 weeks?????
