Don't do situps - they're the WORST thing for your back and quite ineffective, really. Something like Pilates or using a fit ball would be much more beneficial and effective for you - would strengthen your back considerably and tighten up your tummy much, much quicker than situps. They're kind of becoming a thing of the past with much more advanced and low-impact exercise techniques these days.
The thing about Xenical and other medications like this (that the pharmaceuticals don't tell you) is that you need to meet a very strict set of criteria to get the prescription for the drugs. They don't give them to just anybody - you have to meet a whole lot of conditions first. Kate, you might, because you already have a good diet and find it physically difficult to exercise, but for others who are just lazy and want a quick fix, this ain't it.
Healty diet, moderate exercise, and a long-term plan is how you lose weight and keep it off. I can't bear the attitude of trying to find a magic bullet so people can keep sitting on their a*sses and eating whatever they want, and expecting to lose weight without trying.
This is what big pharmaceutical companies play to. People's innate laziness and lack of willingness to put any effort into anything, and then worse, their growing despair, despondency and insecurity because they just can't lose weight. IMO, Big Pharmaceutical is as morally reprehensible as Big Tobacco. They just market it better.
Everything worth having is worth fighting for. Plus, there's nothing - nothing
- like the sense of achievement you get when you actually try to lose weight and succeed on your own. And you are pretty much guaranteed to keep it off that way, too - without having to resort to fad fixes for the remainder of your life. Not only that, it's almost impossible not to have a happier, more energetic, more uplifting lifestyle when you do it the right way - and there's no price can be put on that.
