I have my foster cat that has kittens that will be 4 weeks this wed. One of the kittens is a tad bigger then his littermates, and is bound and determined NOT to eat off mom. I wanted to see last night if they would try KMR 2nd stage mixed with babyfood. well, the big guy went to town!! He loved it. he is also climbing out of the laundry box on a regular basis now to get to moms wet food. the other 3 have no intrest in the food.

What i am wondering is, as long as he has mom to feed off of if he wants her, is it ok for him to be eating the 2nd stage as well? they seem to be needed a litterbox too, as mom isnt keeping up with cleaning them. Is this right for their age, or a lil early?

My kittens are 5 & 6 weeks old this week. They are all (except for one) eating both canned and dry food and drinking water.... in addition to nursing from mom. The younger kittens were all eating at 4 weeks old, the older kittens wouldn't even try it until they were all well over 5 weeks. And they have all been using the litter box since around 4 weeks as well.

A little early, but hey, if he's willing to eat solids, let him

I've tried to get them interested at 4-5 weeks old; most don't want to bother, so I just started holding off on solid food till 6 weeks old. Mom was fine with nursing them, so no problems.

BTW give them the litter box now
