Hello!

I was wondering what everyone here does when they leave the house for long periods of time. What happens to your cats?

We are going on a 11 day holiday and are leaving our two cats (who have only fairly recently met) with two different cat-sitters. I'm fairly new to cat owning so have no real precedent for this. Will they still recognise me when I get back or do they not really care as long as they are getting fed and petted?

I'd love to hear your experiences!

We're going away for a week later in the year & are a bit concerned about leaving the furry one, as we've never left him for longer than one night before. We've got relatives popping in twice a day to feed him & do the litter change, but it's night times we're mostly concerned about, as he's so used to having us here. We're going to leave the TV on for company(not the same I know), & invest in a night light, but other than that I don't know what else to suggest. Sorry I've not got much advice, but just wanted you to know that you're not alone in your anxiety!

They will recognize you but if they are separated now and only have been together a short time, it might be wise to do the normal introduction time (apart) when you return.

If we are gone more then 1-2 days, then we have someone come in to feed them.

If its only a short time (like cat show weekend) the remaining cat is ok with an extra bowl of food and water. As long as they have water, that's the important thing.

We've never had a problem leaving them home for a few days.

Freig.. I think we've got the same cat! My Soot has the same little white speck under his face! Does anyone know if it's common?

Wow, how cute is that, maybe they're related!
