I found a kitten outside my house last night. It appears to be about 4 weeks old. I have been feeding it kitten formula every 4-6 hours. It had a bowl movement on it's own last night after the first feeding. It has not had another one or gone pee at all. I have tried to stimulate it with a warm washcloth before and after every feeding without success. She seems healthy otherwise...do I need to take her to the vet ASAP due to the lack of elimination? I am worried about her! She is very playful and doesn't seem distressed but I want to make sure she is healthy.

Thanks,
Ashlee

In Ohio, with a houseful of Kitties
I also am fostering 4-5 week old kittens...I read if you stimualte them for 30-40 seconds and nothing happens they do not have to go. Give the kitten a few more feeding..the poor baby might be a little dehydrated. Who knows when he ate last!. I would take the kitty to the vet though..for worming and flea treatment ...especially if you have other animals in the home. Good Luck on the new baby..are you going to keep him?

Thanks for the reply! She used her litter box last night while I was asleep and then again this morning after she had her milk. She doesn't have any fleas and she isn't around any of the other pets so I was just waiting for her to get to feeling better before a trip to the vet.

I already have 4 cats, 2 dogs and 3 birds so I am not able to keep her. I already love her, but I am going to have to find a her a home
I will lose my mind with any more pets...I have a 1 year old and am trying to get pregnant again...too much to take on any more pets! (plus we live in the city and it's against the ordinance to have more than 4 cats)

Thanks for the help.

Well, even though you can't keep her, you're an angel for saving her life.

Sounds like she's doing well now that she's using her litter box...good luck finding her a wonderful home!
