Hi!

I got a new kitten last week from the SPCA (he's about 9-10 weeks old) . He was feed a mixture of kitten food at the shelter. I bought California Natural dry C&R and noticed the past few days his stools are very soft - not diarrhea - but loose enough to stick to the scooper (he is on Feline Pine) His stools were fine when he got home. Could Cali Natural it be too rich for him?

My 2 other cats are on Nutro Natural Choice Complete and they REALLY like the Cali Natural from the kitten... have to watch Snowball's bowl or they will empty it in a heartbeat! LOL... I will eventually have them all on Cali Natural as soon as I finish my older kitties food.

He was dewormed at the SPCA and I took him to the Vet. He appears in good health according to the Vet. I find he drinks a lot of water and wondering if perhaps he is getting dehydrated from the soft stools - he eats well and is very playfull.

I would hate to take him off the Cali Natural completely and thought I could mix 2 brands together to see if it makes his stools normal again. What would be another top quality kitten dry I could mix it in with? Could I mix it with the Nutro Natural Choice kitten or if there is a better suggestion?

Thanks!

The soft stools should decrease in a few days... likely the shelter feed him less digestable stuff and his tummy is adjusting...

If it continues then try a different food or try adding some plain pumkin...

I know kitty was wormed but that may also need to be redone

Thanks Sharky!
I had forgotten about the deworming also - it's usually not just a 'one time' thing with kittens.
