I wasn't sure what forum to put this under, but I figured that either way someone could shed some light on the subject. I recently took a quick vacation (I left Monday and Wednesday night). Since I am temperarily living with my folks, they were nice enough to take care of my 3 cats for me. I called home on Monday night to check up on everyone (just had to make sure my babies were doing ok:tounge2
and my Mom said that Tiki was going nuts. She said that she would roam through the house searching for something and finally resorted to howling as she was desperately searching for "something". After a few hours of this, Mom finally tried to figure out what in the world her problem was. She noticed that Tiki would howl only in the part of the house that I was usually always in (my bedroom and etc.). Finally poor Tiki gave up for the night, but started up first thing in the morning. I am assuming that she just missed me. I guess it's nice to be loved!!

Ok..long story short...Is this normal? My other 2 cats never have acted this way...maybe they just don't love me as much!
Since I've been home,Tiki is so lovable...more than usual. Just curious if any one else has had this happen to them before and if you have any suggestions on how to help her when I leave again. Thanks in advance and sorry this is sooooo long!

this is quite normal especially if the cat is really attached to you. One way to help Tiki next time you leave, is leave behind a sweaty smelly shirt of yours that she can lie next to and surround herself with your scent. Even though she was home and your scent was "around" giving it to her in a concentrated form, will help soothe her worries that you might not be coming back.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I guess I didn't realize that she was so attached to me. I've only had her for 4 months and I assumed that she would be just like the others. Boy was I wrong! I don't plan on leaving for a while, but I will try to remember the stinky shirt routine. Thanks again!
