Many vibes for the kittens, but I'm honestly more worried about you. With bleeding hands and severely irritated skin, you could get a nasty infection. You can get non-latex disposable exam gloves at most big pharmacies--I think even walmart sells them (I wear them all the time in the kitchen).

Natalie- does your shelter use Rocal or Baccide- same goes for Tek-trol- if so- both can be bought in bulk and clean just as good as bleach. HOWEVER in suspected cases of pan. luk or parvo- Bleach MUST be used. As far as your hands go - do not bleach them- use hand sanatizer instead hon. You all need to be spraying your clothing down betwen each room you go into/etc because you will just be spreading it. Diluted Baccide or Rocal in a spray bottle is safe on clothing. Ya'll can also get bleach for colors- dilute it a bit with water and put that in a spray bottle to use on your clothes. You MUST have everyone spray down the bottoms and tops of their shoes and bottoms of their blue jeans/pants- anything that touches the floor. Also what do ya'll do as far as washing dishes/litter pans? After they are washed- you should dip them in Rocal or another cleaner to disinfect them then dry them off (don't rinse off the disinfectant- if it's diluted it should be fine when dried off. As far as gloves go- treat them like your hands- put hand sanatizer on them between each cage /animal you touch. Be sure that nobody is using brushes/combs/tools on the cats right now- because those are one of the easiest ways to spread stuff- if they MUST be groomed- sanatize between each animal. As far as medicine goes- be sure to use a different syringe/dropper for EACH animal- otherwise if you put the same syringe or used one into the same bottle of meds- you're only going to spread it- you can take one of the .1 or .3ml needles and take the tops off those and use them as a dropper for the meds- put one with each kitties chart/name card so you don't use different ones. (that's the cheapest way to do that)

As far as medicine goes- what are ya'll using on them? Albon, Clavamox, and Amoxi are good but likely won't knock it out if they all have it- i know ya'lls shelter is short on cash- but still...suggest using eithor Flagyl (you can get the generic inexpensively and have it dosed out) or (and this is one of the best for "unknown" illnesses with uri symptoms)- Zithormax. Zithromax is one of THE best antibiotics you can safely use on cats and it seems to really knock out things that other antibiotics don't (sometimes it seems like come cats are resistant in a way to others such as amoxi.) That being said- Zithromax can be pricy- so the best way to get it is to have the vet that helps your shelter call around to the local pharmacies to find the cheapest price on it and then order it into a liquid. For one small bottle at our shelter from a local pharmacy it was about $50 BUT you use such a small amount on felines that it does last a while. Good luck hon!!! (((((VIBES))))))

The two remaining of the litter are no longer dehydrated, not getting any more Sub-Q fluids. They are active, eating well(both wet & dry). No kittens at our facility are acting ill(other than the URIs). We are hopefully that we avoided distemper this time.
