Why are there so many women on The Cat Site?

I'm not sure as to why it is a majority of women here, but I'm definately happy that anyone is on this site.

I think the males in the group give us a different perspective and I love hearing their stories of their beloved pets

So keep it coming guys!

I think that women tend to socialize more, either virtually or IRL. The funny thing is that I remember a thread several months ago that asked what we were like in high school. Seems like at that time we had a lot of band/orchestra people. Perhaps I'm remembering wrong.

Anyway I think that its just the nature of the beast. Perhaps if we resurrected the "Show me your X-rated images" in the Fur Pictures.

I'm not a woman

I have noticed that about rescue work/animal welfare advocates, as well. However, I will say (I don't know if I should, but here I go) that a fair number of the men (greater rate than the general population) are gay. Which is awesome... because they fit in with crazy cat ladies really well for some reason.

Women are cat people. men are dog people. Women will not care who hears them making baby talk to their cats and knitting blankets for them and cuddling them like little kids. Men drink beer, give their dogs a pat and scratch their undercarriage.

We are sensitive and will be more likely to admit our love or furry creatures.

yea yea , and the cat is laughing at you the whole time, or living in shame and fear that some other animal will see it dressed in some silly thing.

when all the cat is thinking about is killing something, and finding a nice place to sleep,, Cats are more man pet then a dog is.

I thought it was because guys spend their time on gaming sites, and sites with scantilly clad women. Or is that just my husband?

there's mostly woman on every pet site I belong to and only a few guys.

Most men love cats but cats have been labeled as being too feminine. Men feel that they have to keep up this masculine persona in order to fit in. As a result they are very secretive and don't want some of their closest friends to know about their love for cats let alone a bunch of people from ever corner of the world.

I think it is because we are used to being primary care providers and aren't afraid to ask questions that may make us look stupid!

I had a picture of my cat on my desk at work. The word "gay" was mentioned to me on occasion.

Nope that's my husband too!

IMO, a man who can say honestly that he loves animals, then proves it, is just about as sexy as a man can get. Too bad guys have all those other guys bringing them down

A man who goes on and on about the fun of killing animals or believes jokes made about killing/torturing cats are funny, will get passed over every time. Doesn't matter if he has Gates' money and Clooney's looks.

Not really sure why there are more women here. I cannot speak for all women. I came here looking for advice and decided to stick around I am surprised there aren't more men.

However, if I were a guy and popped in to see what was up and saw a thread titled something like "Gynecological issues - guys stay out!" I may leave quickly I have yet to see something titled "Prostate Issues - please help! No girls allowed"

I work at a desk, my DH works as a contractor.


However, he is one to gush & gush about his kitties.... he tells everyone who will listen how much he loves them, and how much they love him..... He's just not that computer savvy.... meaning he doens't even email....and why would he when I do all that for him.
