Hi guys, i'm Jay from the UK and my cat is called dax
i've just noticed today that one of his eyes seems to be going a funny colour
to be honest it could have been like this for ages, i only noticed as i was leaning on the windowsill with my chin on my arms and he led down right next to my face
he has green eyes but parts of his left eye seem to be going a brownish colour
i have unnecesasarilly in the past been worried about other stuff that turned out to be nothing like when i though he had cut his lip and was told it was just discoloration

even so, i phoned the vets but cant get in for a few days so thought i would if this is normal or has anyone heard of it before?
tried getting a pic but he just wanted to fight

thanks
Jay

is it just in one eye? is it in both? is it just in one place in the eye? is it around the brim?

its a tiny spot in the right eye but a lot more in the left eye, i'd say covers approx 10%, maybe a bit more coming from the outer edge inwards

Welcome, Jay!
Cat's eyes get blotchy (for lack of a better term) as they age , but I personally think that for this to happen at 7 or 8 is unusual. Getting to the vet is probably the best thing. At least you will have some peace of mind if nothing else.

If its only in the one eye, I'd have a vet look at him to be sure nothing is wrong. Cats with hazel eye color have various colors mixed; gold, green, brown and its normal.

I think previous posters all made good points, but I will share my more serious experience.

My oldest cat Tyler, has had uveitis in the past - in one eye. The key clue was a change of color. He has green-gold eyes, but with the uveitis the eye slowly at first, became totally orange.

He has also had retinal bleeding (due to high bp, now on medication for this)..but with that, though I've caught it once with a tiny swirl of blood in the lower eye, trust me, the entire eye was blood red by the time I got to my vets within that hour..so that I highly doubt.

If the entire eye is changing color, I'd lean more towards an issue such as uveitis, otherwise, I'd think it's what another suggested, just a variation in his eye color.

Seeing the vet is prudent though, please post back and let us know what you find out.
