Every now & then one of the guys will do what I call the poo-drag
-- some of the poo is in the box, there might be a piece on the mat (or just a smear), and then maybe a piece on the ground a few inches from the mat.

What's up? Not enough fiber in the diet? The box was clean, too; just cleaned & scooped. They don't seem cramped in the box either. No signs of being sick. Drinking & eating fine, too.

P.S. Otherwise, they NEVER go outside the box (ex/c once, when someone just couldn't hold it
when I was cleaning the box!).

Maybe its just because they are male!

Men are usually less hygenic than women... its the cat version of skid-mark pants!

skid marks is the perfect description of what the mat looks like!

I think Munchie was the culprit, and he's the uptight-I-gotta-be-clean-cat!

ROFL about the skidmark pants
I have to say I have had two cats do this and they were both boys

In their defence though, both were medium to long hairs, with some pretty furry
"britches". I think sometimes the poop gets sticky, for lack of a better word. It then sticks to a bit of butt fur and doesn't hit the litter box.

Then the boys try to rub it off on the floor. The softer the poop the bigger the mess. I once came home to a poop- bullseye in that covered the entire living room.
