Fancy Feast have. Given Jordan's current medical concerns I've decided that he get whatever her wants for breakfast so this week I started feeding him Fancy Feast. Truth is right now I don't care as long as he is happy to eat it, but I'm just curious if it is junk food or not?

Yes, it's pretty much junk food - McDonald's for cats.

Have you tried Merrick's Thanksgiving Day Dinner or Granny's Pot Pie? They are the only 2 my babies will eat.

Most of FF is what is "junk" in my book but some of it is decent to good... It is "complete and balenced " so nutritionally they do get the minimum of essitial stuff...

Depending on budget try Meow mix or like Linda suggested Merricks

yeah, FF isn't the best, but sometimes if they're not eating well, any food they get in is better than nothing
I second the Meow Mix, mine love it and it's not quite as bad as FF. Mine wouldn't touch the Merrick's though
they will nibble Wellness on occasion

Thanks Merrick's is a good idea. Money isn't my worry right now it's the fact that if he has cancer I don't care what he eats as long as he is happy. It may be a little short sited, but if he doesn't have a long life ahead of him it should be a happy one.

Try Meow Mix Market Select. I tried home cooking for a while for mine after all of the recall scare began to happen.....but no matter what i tried- recipe after recipe- i could not get all of mine to eat it (i tried EVERYTHING too- even went out and bought recipe books/etc). In desperation- i went out to several different pet stores/grocery stores and just began to check labels on wet foods. One of the best ones i've found in my price range was Meow Mix Market Selects. The first listed ingredients in many of them are natural ones (chicken, fish, etc)- and that's definitely something you want to see- also many of them do not have wheat gluetin/rpc- you just have to check the individual label. - and best of all: ALL of my picky little kitties LOVE it!!!! They all eat it sooo well - and to me that's worth the price!!! ( it's about $5.50-$6 here for a box of 12 tubs- oh yeah and the plastic tubs can be recycled!) I feed one tub to each kitty in the morning and one at night so one box lasts my 4 girls a day and a half - but it's worth it- they love it and for the most part i like the ingredients. Definitely give it a try- i've had nothing but a good experience with it!

I think that's the right way to look at it. I'm sorry that you're having to go through this, but I completely support your wanting him to be happy. Sometimes it's all about quality of life, and sometimes good nutrition means nothing when you're facing a limited time left with loved ones.

NO actual diagnosis yet, just elevated blood calcium and I'm awaiting a test for ionized blood calcium levels. He just hasn't been himself.

I should also add that he is getting FF in the morning for breakfast, but is then getting Natural Balance at night. So I feel like at least he's getting one good meal a day.

that's kinda how I look at it too to be honest, my kitties, in general, do not live long lives, so if they like the Meow Mix wet and not the Innova, well, that's ok, as long as they're happy

that's pretty much what we are facing right now. raven was diagnosed with cancer. we don't know how long we have, so if he likes fancy feast & friskies in gravy--that's what he gets. he does get nutro dry to nibble on. those are his favorite wet foods. every time i've tried to switch to "high quality" wet foods i've ended up with miserable cats. and i don't want raven's remaining time with us to be like that.

i really don't think FF is that bad. and was actually told that by a cat specialist vet in town a couple years ago.

Sounds good to me. I agree with you, do whatever you have to in order to make him as happy as possible.

Bailey hated Merricks. Actually, there was one that she gobbled up and seemed to LOVE (Thanksgiving Day Dinner). Then she puked it up all over the place, and I think that pretty much ruled that flavor out for her. She wouldn't touch it after. She liked Cowboy Cookout and Grammy's Pot Pie the first time I gave them to her, but she acted like I was trying to to feed her raw sewage when I attempted to give it to her again.
You might want to try Evanger's. Bailey really liked their Holistic Pheasant Dinner the first few times I gave it to her. I think I might give some of the rejected foods another run now that the Pepcid seems to have decreased her vomiting.

Merrick's can be too rich for some kitties. It's really a matter of buying a few cans of different brands and trying them out. I tried at least 8 different brands before our cats "chose" Merrick.

I recently tried the Performatrin wet food (ingredients looked really good, no fillers) and the cats liked that as well. It is much like Merrick's in consistency with lots of juicy gravy so perhaps that's why they liked it.

I don't think I could count the different brands I've tried on all of my fingers and toes.
Sometimes I can't help but think she's playing mind games with me...

That's how I feel about Jordan some times. Some days he'll eat dry food and others he turns his up at it.
