Just wondering how many of you are thinking of entering the posting contest at this stage? I want to keep this one exciting and a challenge, so I want to know how many people are in for it. We may actually lower the number of entries and make them shorter (they're already 150 words) - I want as many people join in as possible!

I think this is a great contest and I have read some really wonderful posts since it started.

I like the fact that people are relating their personal experiences, which seems to give emotional support to the OP who is asking the question.

Honestly I think this is what I love about these forums. Lots of information, but it comes from people that make you feel welcomed and like friends right from the start. People here really do care and it shows.

I am posting things that I wouldn't have posted before. Not because of the points, but because I now know that doing so is acceptable and what the site is about. I get a little nervous sometime in the health forum, I have a lot of experience with sick and injured kitties and also do a lot of home treatment due to my background and the fact I live very rural. Sometimes though I worry that I should just say....call the vet. Now I know I can say, call the vet and this has been my experience.

As you can see, I have no problems with 150 words.

I agree with the post above me

and of course we all know I tend to go on and on about personal experiences and I just love sharing information on things i know and learned and such. I think its an excellent contest, and maybe more people will start posting there and sharing their experiences

And also, school is done so now I finally have time to get back to posting in those forums
For the last few weeks I feel as if I missed out

I've also been enjoying the contest so far. I've been enjoying writing for it, too, and realizing that you maybe can help someone just by posting your own experiences. I've been taking more time to think out my answers, too.

I like it so far, but 6 posts might be too many for me. I have no problem with the word count, but I don't know if I will get 6 posts. Are only responses to problems ok, or can it be the post on a problem itself?

Thanks so much for the feedback! There's still 10 days to go... so that's only a post every other day if you already posted one (it can be more than one post a day btw, I just want to avoid a tirade of six posts in one hour just for the contest).

Posts can be replies or they can be thread starters. They can be about a problem you are experiencing or even just starting a discussion about some cat care related issue in the appropriate forum.

I am enjoying it. But I don't know if I can get 6 good enteries in. Being just over a year into cat ownership I don't have any real personal experience to pull from. But I do try to help.

I am in the 'if I get enough posts, I do' group. Some of my posts tend to be really long others are just a quick hug / vibes, so if there is enough posts I have replied to that fit and are not just chatter I will enter them

Well, Anne, I'm 'trying' to do this contest. I've been keeping track of my posts, and trying to do it. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing now and if I have 6 good posts, then I'll enter. I'm afraid though that they aren't 'good enough' for the contest.
So far I think I MIGHT have 3 to enter, but I'm not all that proud of them. But, we'll see! It's hard for me to find something to talk about since I don't know a lot. I feel the only place I can really relate to is either the Behavior forum or the Care and Grooming! And of course, the cat lounge (but that's not in the contest
)

You know, this reminds me of the contest we had for the TCS shop designs. The member that entered the winning design was hesitant about entering, because she felt her design isn't good enough, compared to those by the very talented designers we have on board. As it turned out, members voted for her design the most because something there just appealed to them a lot. My point being that you never know when your post will appeal to people. It's not necessarily about the length, depth or style per se- it's some combination of them all that may just be it with your posts. It's hard to tell sometimes, so entering might be a fun way to find out...

BTW, forgot to say this before - good to see you around Adrienne!

Anne- I just wanted to add in that you should leave it at 6 entries, and 150 words. If you make it anything LESS than that... it will be too easy
6 entries and 150 words is a good goal
I *think* I already have 4 to submit

BTW: Is it okay if all 6 entries end up being all in the same category or do we HAVE to spread them out into other categories?

I'm in!

Anne - someone prompted me to enter the contest so I finally went to read the rules. I thought I saw that the posts needed to be the first 2 weeks of June. I haven't been on as much as usual due to work conflicts, so only found 3 in that period. Did you extend it to the entire month of June? If so, I'll start writing!!

I'm glad your interested! I replied to your question in the other thread as well. But I think that we turn them all in on June 15th, and you need to have 6 posts. You have enough time to do 6 still
Good luck! The more the merrier!

I've actually had a few in the last week because DH is away, and I'm not sleeping well so have been going through the Health and Behaviour posts and writing big long posts because I have nothing better to do

I'm afraid I've found that most of my "expertise" is in the area of people problems, rather than cat care. Others here know much more than I do when it comes to our kitties, so I'll leave it to them and continue to pontificate in the Lounge.
