This woman I work with was very nice last week when I was upset about Jordan's preliminary blood work. Then just a few minuets ago she said, "But you've been through this before with Smokey and you know what the right thing to do is, if he's not eating and is puking that's no fun for him or for you." I can't help but think those are the words of someone who has never had to make a serious decision about her pet's health care. He's only 4 it is not that simple. When Smokey had CRF it was hard enough but she was 17 and I knew no matter what she didn't have a whole lot longer, but HE IS 4. If there is something wrong I feel like I have to fight for whatever time I can buy him. It's never easy, but for me the age thing makes it that much more difficult.

It's tough when people don't understand how important the small furry people are
and some get well vibes for Jordan

What a wonderful woman.

I know where you are coming from with them always being sick & what to do. Damita is incessantly itchy, vomiting, on & off diarrhea.
Sometimes you just have to tell others to shut up & let you do what you feel is right.

Age does affect how many of us view it. Losing Petunia at 15 was hard but I knew she had a long life. Thinking of losing Lucy or Carly right now would be much harder because they are still young and active. It is so hard for those who haven't made these bonds to understand which is why I cherish the community here.

for you and Jordan.

Gee if she's not eating and puking should we put her down too? Some people don't think before they speak. Some people should have their mouths permantly duct taped - she's one of them. Of course you have to do everything you can.

The thing is she has a dog, but he's only like 5 or 6 and doesn't have any serious health issues. I know everyone here understands, but it's so hard when I'm already trying not to cry all the time and people say such stupid things.

For some people their animals are more possessions then they are family. Personally, I can't understand that view point, but it seems that she fits into that category. My cats are family and when something happens to one of them, then the whole family hurts. It has been 2 years now since we had to put Sugie down and it still hurts.

Another reason we hang out here. You'll never hear such unfeeling remarks from us. I'm so sorry you have to put up with this sort of thing. We know what you're going through and I'm sending you hugs and prayers.

I remember this from my interpersonal communications class in college.

Basically knowing someone's feelings are next to impossible. if she saw you during Smokey's CRF, she probably thinks that you'll just react the exact same way.

However what humans don't seem to understand about each other is that we aren't predictable all the time. We do crazy stuff from time to time that isn't in line with what we did before.

Plus...eh she's a coworker, not your best friend. I wouldn't take what she has to heart. Your friends and familys words should stand out more.
