I have a new maine coon kitten, born at a breeder I think 8 weeks ago. He's a great cat, and gets along and plays great with my 5 year old maine coon. He won't crap in the litterbox, though. I recently moved, and this kitten lived with my parents, their older cat, and the kittens half-sibling from the same breeder for about a month. They never had a problem with his litterbox habits. I've seen him urinate in the litterbox and bury it so I know he knows where it is and what to do with it..but this morning I woke up and there's a nice pile of you-know-what in the corner of my closet. Before that he pooped in my (empty, thank goodness) laundry hamper, and in the cat bed that they both share. I've tried switching litter from the kind I normally use to what they had him on when he lived with the breeder (same stuff my parents used). i switched a few days ago and hes made a mess since then. Any suggestions? I'm using Resolve pet formula carpet cleaner to eliminate the smell and discourage re-messing. I cant sit here and watch him, Im working a lot of hours this summer to save money for school in the fall. I think I might have to put one litterbox outside of the utility room for my older cat, and shut the kitten in the laundry room with his food and water at night so he has no choice but to crap in the catbox. Think that'll work? I can't afford to have the carpets in my new apartment ruined.
