hi everyone..
need advice please,
i let my female neuted cat out saturday night around 11pm.called her to come in about half hour later.no sign of her .she sometimes stays out at night she is a great mouser.
anyway we havent seen her since ,she usually doesnt leave the garden.we live near a forest and are surrounded by fields .the grass on 3 sides to us is very long and would have been very wet the otherside is a field with short grass and a lane to the forest lots of trees around .my cat is nearly one year old.been walking the forest all day yesterday and since 430 am this morning ..we all realy sad especially my little girl who is expecting the cat to be here when she gets up.
i have heard boy cats usually roam but would my female cat do the same especially as she has been spayed,
sorry to ramble on but if anyone has been in this situation or could give advice it would be gratefully recieved..

spent hours walking yesterday. found her about 2 miles away in a field near some old ruins.she heard us and started screaming her head off .thought she seriously injured .but she ok. as we have no neighbours nearby we live very isolated cant understand what happened ,something must have chased her.
anyway she home everyone happy .dog happy its her best friend.

thanks again for your concern.

I am so glad she is back with you!

To answer your question, it is indeed unusual for female cats to roam that far away. I think you can safely assume that she only got there by being chased and getting disoriented, or by someone taking her there and dropping her.

Since cats really don't have the same natural defenses outdoors as animals meant to live in the wild, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on your kitty for the next several weeks (or always) while outside, if you intend to continue letting her out. If there is a neighborhood predator around (a bigger feral cat, a dog, a mean neighbor) you will want to know about it so you can protect your baby, or you may risk the same thing happening again.

Good luck and I am so happy for you to have found your little girl.
