Hi all, sorry this will take a bit...

I went to see the vet this weekend as both Soleil and Singa where sneezing (still!).

It all began when I first got Soleil in Feb. She was sneezing from the first day on, so I took her to the vet the next day. The vet could not find anything wrong with her and explained the sneezing with it being an allergy.

Next time around (2 weeks later) I brought Soleil in again to get her 2nd vaccination (as recommended by the first vet) - this next vet said she is too young and it needs to be postponed another 2 weeks (thanks for the waste of time and money guys!
) Since Soleil was still sneezing, I asked this vet and again she didn't want to give her medicine as it is probably an allergy and nothing serious.

In the meantime Singa got sick with a serious eye infection. Another vet treated her - I took the chacne to tell her about Soleil sneezing - she did not see a connection. She tested Singa's blood on FIV and whatever else - all good. Singa got eye drops.

Again 2 weeks later I brought Soleil in again. She got her vaccination - and no, the vet still did not see the flu in her.

The next day Soleil was hurting around her tummy area really bad (obviously she couldnt take the vaccination) so I took her back to see the vet. This time the chief vet was around. Soleil was simply constipated. But I took the chance to tell him about the sneezing and Singa's eye infection and he immediately drew the connection - saying Soleil must have brought a flu into the house which she may cope well with (due to her only showing it by sneezing), but Singa seems to have harder times dealing with it.

Ok done with - Soleil got antibiotics, Singa eye drops. It got better, but the sneezing still did not go completely. But it was a lot lesser. Singa's eyes healed.

Since I am hardly at home due to my work, I can't monitor them too much, but recently I realized the sneezing had increased again.. Additionally Singa got these sneezing, coughing, asthma attacks.

So here I go see the vet again this weekend. Soelil got FIV test taken (negative!), Singa got x-rays. Soleil has infected gums, plus a flu. Singa has bronchitis with water around her heart. Cost me of course a hell lot of money, but more important... the health of my two kitties!!!!!

I am so upset with the doctors at this vet clinic! this all could have been prevented if they had detected Soleil's flu at our first visit!

Now... both are on antibiotics and a low dose of steroids to boost the immune system for 2 weeks. Plus I am supposed to give them some raw in between as this apparently also improves the immune system (?). He said just to take minced lamb and add calcium. Is this enough?
I tried it and also added a vitamin supplement (with all different types of vitamins) - Soleil nibbled at it, Singa didn't touch it, not even after I mixed sardines under it

Apart from the nutrition and medicine - what else can I do??
I am really worried about Singa - having water around the heart sounds so scary!!!

Thanks guys!

Did the vet explain what that means? Is it fluid in the lungs around the heart or fluid in the heart sac? Maybe someone can recommend another vet or expert in your area. It seems unfair that they're throwing all these things out at you w/o properly explaining them
... a bit irresponsible, really(!)

Sorry I'm no expert in this, but I hope things are going well
.
Some healing vibes your way...

Thank you for your vibes!!

I have no idea if it's in the lungs or not. I totally didn't ask either.

Maybe I should call them and ask again. On the x-ray you could see the heart and the breathing passages - both a bit blurr. He said that they should normally be very clearly visible and it is a sign of fluids being around it if you can not see them clearly.

I was thinking of switching vets already earlier, but I'm scared to do so. It can always be worse as well...

The vets are all really nice and handle the patients as if they are their won pets, so I was always very comfortable with them....

The one I thought of switching to is actually the vet that Soleil got her first vaccination from - and it was way too early (according to my current vet)! She was barely 4 weeks old! The foster had brought her to the vet- and obviously he did it although she was too young, which is also not a good sign...

I live in singapore - in Geylang, so if anyone can help me find a good vet here... would appreciate the advice!!!
The current one is Animal Recovery Centre (at Balestier).

Thanks!
