Identifying the source of the hairball

Thread Starter
We have seen one of our cats cough up hairballs a few times (maybe twice a week). She is a DHS. We've been giving her a hairball remedy every other day or so, but now I just saw a HUGE hairball on the floor when I got up this morning. It was about the size of a macadamia nut.

Anyway, it's still dark colored, and our other cat (who is larger, and has medium length fur), is white / orange. Could it have been his hairball? Or does the color of the hairball match the color of the cat?

Thanks

You know I really don't know the answer to this question. My cats very seldom cough up hair balls. And when I think about it I do think the hairball matches the color of the cat but I am not sure on this.

Generally, the hair in the hairball matches the hair on the cat unless your cats groom one another a lot. My own don't trust each other enough to submit to grooming! Theirs always match!
