I'm trying to find a good quality wet food for my 4 year old Misty. She just had most of her teeth extracted.

She seems to really like soupier foods, lots of gravy, etc. I want her to have top notch quality, price isn't an issue. I've read such good things about Merrick, but I looked at some user reviews on Amazon, and some people are pointing out quality control issues (i.e. foreign bodies found in the cans, etc.) Anyone encounter these problems? Any other suggestions? I live in the DC Metro area, so I'm pretty sure I can find almost anything around here, or order it online. Thank you!

I just switched to Merrick and my cat loves it. It is soupier than most other canned food i find, and I like the list of ingredients.
Thank you for mentioning the foreign body thing. I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

When I stopped in at the local pet store today, they had a new brand called Weruva. Their foods seem to have a higher liquid content--I found one called Paw Lickin' Chicken that isn't on their website, but the ingredients still look really good--almost completely chicken. You might also look at By Nature canned or pouched foods.

I've used Merrick in the past, but I found that Odo's sensitive stomach couldn't handle it, so I switched. He now primarily gets Evanger's non-fish varieties (which are pate) and some other foods occasionally rotated in (Innova and whatever else I can find). I haven't actually tried the Weruva yet as I just bought the one can today, but if he likes it, it may join the rotation.

I've been feeding Merrick's for quite a while now and haven't found anything strange in it and the kitties love it. They only like 2 of the flavours though - they won't eat any fish or seafood flavours and they don't like the pate consistency of Cowboy Cookout.

Merrick is a good food ... with the recalls alot of light has been shed on the pet food industry and hopefully some improvement will happen by all manufacturers

They liked some of the Weruva flavors, including the chicken one. They like non-mush-textured foods, but are still picky with certain chunky-foods. We tried Merrick in the past...they boycotted
(cat-cotted?
) almost all of them!
