Figaro is estimated at 4-5 weeks of age. The tips of his ears still curl inward....is this normal for his age? A few pics of what I mean:

Bad pic, but shows the ear tips well

And the last one:

So...normal for a 4-5 week kitten or not?

Hmmm...I'd love to hear from the scottish fold folks, unless parentage is known..reminds me of a very loose fold.

He's a stray kitten. Live-trapped with a feral mom & her litter of 3 who are obviously older than Figaro!

I must admit....I am in love with these ears!

Were they always tipped forward or did this start say at 3 weeks of age? Reason is that Folds are born with straight ears that fold at 3-4 weeks of age.

Go here: http://www.kerrileefolds.com/availab...d_kittens.html and look at the photo of Barney, an 8 month old loose fold ear fold - reminds me very much of Figaro's ears, as I can see them from your photos.

He's cute, and there could be a little fold in the background somewhere. IMO if his ears stay that way or fold a little more, you should have him neutered and show in the household pet classes

Shhhh.....Don't tempt me!
He's a boy, so Ophelia won't kill him....

He's my foster, repeat, foster kitten. He isn't staying. And I've only had him since last night, so I don't know what his ears looked like before this point!

I can't keep him til he's 4 months old. I'd have nowhere to live!

And we'll see about that show when it comes closer...

I just wanna know if his ears are gonna stay curled! I'm trying to remember....but at 4-5 weeks aren't a kittens ears "straighter"?

Okay, don't swat me here, going to be technical. Ears that "curl" curl backwards, the ears your sweetie has are folding forward, and I still think he's a fold (which means your area has a whole male with the dominant gene for folded ears running around). I've had straightear kittens, and no, their ear tips don't look like this at 4-5 weeks.

Did you check out the link I gave to a loose folded ear fold? Really does remind me of your cutie pie

Now, I've made real goofs here before (the white kitten that was dirty that I thought I saw lynx marks on..sigh), it would be easier if someone was there and could feel the ears.

I honestly do not know if a fold's ear tips feel stiff? Can someone with a Scottish Fold advise her on what the ears would feel like if this kitten does have a fold ear?

I did look at the link Pat & his ears really do look like Barney's. It seems to me, like only the very tips fold(not curl
). His right ear is more folded than his left as well. They are soft, too. It does feel as though there is a slight "kink" in his right ear....its like you can feel exactly where it folds. It is actually quite cool.

Hmmmm.....I might post in the Breeders forum to see what kind of response I get there. I'm also going to see how the pics I took today turned out as far as his ears go!

Could this be something that happens related to food or nutrition? Could an injury do this?

The only thing that might cause them to fold (other then a Scottish Fold in the background with the gene) is damage to the blood vessals. Spooky got his one ear damaged (have NO clue how) and the vessals broke inside. The vet tried draining them, but they refilled up. So he had to seal off all the vessals in the ear....the result was a crumpled, folded ear because the blood vessals were no longer holding the ear erect.

But it doesn' look like any "damage" IMO. I still think you should keep him if the ears keep folding down and place another kitty

I could never place any of my kitties. That's why I've got them.
I get the rejects.

Whoever adopts him HAS to keep me updated on his ears!!

Butch and Sundance's ears were like that when I first caught them. But over the past week theyve straightened out.
