Wow, a 60lb dog in an apartment? I guess it sounds weird to me because most places won't allow anything over 25lbs.

If she didn't even bother to look, I doubt she would have taken the time to exercise him properly.

I am annoyed for other reasons & this has me steaming. All I can think of is she pushed him out the window. How could someone who is acting like their care right now, not look for him for a week?????? Something sounds fishy. I really think she had something to do with the fall and only called back in fear she would get in trouble somehow. Argh.
I have to walk away for a bit.

BTW glad Norris is doing much better physically & emotionally.

I can't believe that she didn't even try and find him after she got home and found him missing! What an *&*^$*%& and that's being kind!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...there is nothing wrong with a larger dog in an apartment so long as there is enough room for them to be comfortable and so long as the owner is RESPONSIBLE about exercising them properly and taking them out for frequent walks/etc. A big part of being a responsible owner is researching the breed (or breeds the dog is potentially mixed with) and making sure this is the correct breed/energy level/etc for you. Sometimes, older larger dogs do better in apartments than smaller more easily excitable dogs.
That being said- before she ever left with him- we did call the apartment complex to verify with the land lord (the same idiot who called today to vouch for this woman
) about the dog / adoption /where it could walk/etc....so we did do that. It was just the owner was irresponsible.

Oh Nikki, I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to hear that Norris is doing better.

And I really really really hoping that you get to keep him, I hope that Colin loves him as much as you do and that ya'll can find a way to keep him.

As for the woman, I am thinking I am gonna put a "gris gris" on her. She won't be able to get another dog when I get done with her.

how on earth can this woman even have a pet in the first place, how is she even a human being?? who on earth would wait a whole week to do anything knowing their animal couldn't land safely three stories down!>!?!?!?! why is this woman even alive??

that poor pup, a car would have been bad enough but this ^*$%*^(%(&^$&^$
woman has the nerve to not even look the same day the dog goes missing!?!?!?

i am severely pi***d off now!

i am glad norris is ok, and adjusting to his tripoded-ness but this is so horrible

Oh my god, that is just incrediibly heinous and disgusting. I am so happy that poor Norris is doing so well (and acting so feisty; that poor other dog that now needs a bath!).

I don't understand behavior like that at all. If you have her picture and information (plus the story) I'd fax it to all the daysother rescue groups and shelters within a 50-mile radius. If I had found my dog missing from my 3rd story apartment, you can be sure that I'd be frantically searching for her and making a lot of phone calls. Then I'd be at the vet's not wanting to leave her alone. How could this woman not look for him and thereby leaving him to wander with a shattered leg for DAYS?!

That poor sweet boy. I'm really glad to know he's safe now, and I'm truly sorry that he will be disabled for the rest of his (hopefully long) life because of that horrible woman. Why would you adopt a dog and not care about it? That just doesn't make any sense, especially since you are paying a large fee.

Can this woman be prosecuted at all? For neglilence or animal cruelty? I'd send those pictures, story, and statements to the police if you haven't already.

I know.....it really upsets me as well
Sometimes working at a shelter can make you really hate some people.

We are in the process of checking into this. But this is not my call -it is up to my bosses...and their bosses...and so on (i work for the city). the thing that would be VERY hard to prove is that he fell and not that he didn't "get loose and get hit" and a million other scenarios she could create. BUT we do have my boss as a witness to the phone convo. And i took pictures of the broken let/ and post amputation/etc. we have evidence and vet testamonies/etc if we need it.so that's good.

Since I have nothing nice to say about the lady I will say nothing at all. At least now Norris is on the road to recovery and is loved. You and Colin and your other animals are the best medicine for him right now. I have faith that he will improve and get dtrong everyday!

I`m only just catching up with the new threads.

I just have no words right now, it is all so shocking. I did wonder if maybe the people that had him ran him over by accident and got scared or something but I never thought anyone would be so stupid to do nothing about it!! And Norris lost his leg?!
Oh poor, poor Norris.

I agree Carol. It upsets me to no end knowing she probably had a great nights sleep the night norris fell out the window while norris was in pain.

Absoutlely- and that's all that matters to me at this point
He's on the road to recovery and he's actually doing AMAZING!!!! Every day is a new day around here and he just seems to get better and better!! He's excellent around our other animals- (he just adores the kitties), he's completly house trained, and for the most part he knows all of his commands as well (although some we are not doing because of the sore amputation site), He is a suvivor. And he's definitely an inspiration to me and Colin- we just adore him!!

Aww Linny -no crying hon- i've done enough for all of us lol. Norris is doing WONDERFUL today...and today for me, that's all i care about. He's able to get along better without that shattered leg, he's able to walk around the house like you wouldn't believe and he's doing everything our other doggies do- but just on three legs!
He's going to be just fine
