I am fostering 4 kittens and trying to find a good home for them.
I got a few bites on an ad I put on petfinders.com.....one was really weird
I was a standard message, automated it seemed. The request was mainly about the 15 fee I am chargingand how to make plans to transfer funds.
This person was out of state....why would a person want a kitten from out of state if they could get a pet in there local humane society...fishy to me!!
Needless to say I am not shipping a Kitten that far away..no way
Maybe it was a hoax to get my account #
Just wanted to get comments and let other know about this possible scam!

Yes. Scam. They get sent out all the time for Petfinder Ads, unfortunately. Be very careful....

These stuff has been going on for years. There have been a few posts here about it too. They are usually from Nigeria or some African country it seems

Remember a few things, if the email you receive contains:

1) broken English

2) referring to your "pet" as opposed to specifically the kitten or the name of the kitten

3) asking to transfer funds, anything about money order, or offering more money then you asked as an adoption fee

4) odd greetings such as "good day to you ma'am I am ___ by name"

5) shipping the pet, esp to another country, but sometimes it is in the US

6) Containing some sob story about their handicapped daughter who's mother just died and her "pet" ran away and now she needs a new "pet" to love.

ANY COMBO OF THESE THINGS IS A SCAMMER, DELETE THE EMAIL, IF YOU ACCEPT THEIR CHECK AND TRY TO CASH IT, SOMETHING HAPPENS WHERE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT GOES INTO THE NEGATIVE BECAUSE IT IS FROM A NON-EXISTANT BANK ACCOUNT.

Can you tell I get these ALL THE TIME?!

Hey Mayfield! I love that area. Cool. Actually that is Pu-Pu or Poo-Poo you are referring to and I just took him to his new home today. hey seemed to really like him and he was wonderful with their two small dogs and their two kids. But I always tell new homes to do a trial run for a week or two and then decide if things are working out. So hopefully at the end of the week, I hear nothing but good things about my boy. I missing the big guy already! He lived in my bedroom so whenever I was in there he just loved to beg for attention.

So does my husband!

Also, if you get an unsolicited email and there's an "UNSUBSCRIBE" button, do NOT do this. It only proves to the sender that they have a valid email address and that someone is on the other end to respond. Just keep deleting, Deleting, DELETING.

Thanks for the info on scammers..i just tell them that the pet is sold and delete the email. Now a days people would scam anyone for a buck...what a shame. Anyway kitties are going to Gueaga humane society to get spayed and microchipped today. They will place them up for adoption..These are really good kittens so I am hopeful they will go into the kitty room...its a huge room with a couch ..looks like a living room. I like the way they treat there animals. In turn, I am going to start fostering bottle babies. The least I can do!
