Rita...from the sublime, to the ridiculous. :)

Okay...she comes home to us on Friday. We are DYING!!! I'm not sure how we're managing the wait, but the time is approaching quickly!

I just thought I'd share this photo that our breeder sent to us, as I'm accustomed to sharing photos of Rita that are all professional, and show her in all of her pristine cuteness, and whatnot. This photo shows the more "neanderthal" side of Rita, and that fact that she is, well...a basset. And bassets will be bassets.

Here she is, after a romp in the dirt, shaking off. Not exactly what I'd dub a graceful, girly girl.

No, actually I dont live far from the Minnesota border, (not as close as you live to Iowa though, what Iowan town are you closest to?) my mom drives to work almost every day to Rochester (shes and RN at Mayo). And Harmony, MN is like 20 minutes away. Granger MN is close to us too, about 10 miles, and I believe part of it is in our school district.

Well, today is baby Rita's Gotcha Day!!! I'll be making the drive at around 3:30 to the breeders...it takes about an hour and 45 minutes. We'll be home around 8 p.m., I think.

Baby gates are up, crate is ready, vet appointment is lined up for Monday. She's now 10 lbs.!!! It will be a quiet night...we'll drive home, and she'll most likely sleep (hopefully, rather than howling all evening), have some potty breaks outside, and back to bed. She's off limits to the kids, cats, and the other 2 dogs for the time being, until she's settled over the weekend.

We're so excited!!!
