Hello! I am new here!
My name is Tessa... I am a serious cat lover, much like the rest of you.

Well, to be honest I am a lover of ALL pets and animals! But cats are my passion, my love, my calling! He he he... okay I'll stop being weird now. I'll tell you a bit about myself.

As I said, my name is Tessa. I'm a young adult living with my partner in SC, USA. For years my fuzzy companion has been Makia, my Domestic Short Hair fat cat... I've had her since I was about 10 years old. She is fantastic. I moved here from WI in August of last year, and after we were settled in we decided to get another cat.

My partner has allergies to cats, and so while browsing the internet one day I came across the Siberian cat breed. I thought, "Wow, those are beautiful cats." Then as I read more about them, I discovered that they are known to be hypoallergenic, because of the fact that they produce less or none of the dander protein called Fel D1 in their saliva. This intrigued me. I showed my Partner this new found information and he was also very interested. We decided to test out his allergies. After a couple Siberian cattery visits with no allergic reactions from him, we were sold!

We found a cattery we wanted to buy from, and in November of 2006 we drove 6 hours each way to pick up our new bundle of dander-free fluff. He was named Alexi, and he was a tiny affectionate black-smoke little boy. We fell in love, not only with Alexi, but with the Siberian breed. Head over heels.

When Alexi was about 7 months old we decided to get him a companion, since our sweet old DSH did not like him very much (too much energy!). I contacted a good breeder friend of mine and a few weeks later we had a new Siberian girl in our home. She was 8 months old, small and sweet. very princess-y. We named her Canoli.

Our home is now a very balanced three-cat two-human household. Makia keeps to herself, while Alexi and Canoli are inseparable best friends. They are wonderful wonderful cats, all three of them. Alexi and Canoli are both altered pets, but someday in the near future I plan to begin breeding, start a cattery and possibly show Siberians as well. Though the showing aspect is still not set in stone. As I said, these cats are my passion and I live for them. I would absolutely love to be able to provide allergic folk with a wonderful friend that does not make them sneeze.

Without further adieu, I will now introduce the trio.

Makia, DSH

Makia is about 9 years old, she has been my sweetie since she was 3 months old. She means the world to me. Sadly, when she was about 7 she developed feline athsma. Felina athsma is a lifelong condition. She takes inhaled steroids and pills every day, and will need to for the rest of her life. Aside from that though, she is healthy, has lost a lot of weight in the past year, and loves both my and my partner unconditionally. She does not, however, get along with the young ones very well!

Alexi, Siberian

IMO, Alexi is a very beautiful boy. He's the sweetest cat I've ever met. He loves walking on the leash like a dog, loves cuddling us on the couch. He loves being a lap cat! He has a very sweet, soft chirping meow. His fur feels as soft as silk... I just love him so much! He is our pride and joy! He's approaching the 9-month mark now, here is a picture from 2 days ago.

Canoli, Siberian

Canoli is a sweetie. We have only owned her for a bit over a month, but she has warmed up to us very nicely. She is very much like a princess.. walks on the very tips of her toes, very light on her feet, never asks for food or pets.. but DEMANDS them! He he he... Nevertheless she always amuses us with her cute antics. She is very mothering to Alexi. We love her.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome.

I am enjoying posting here already! it is a lot of fun.. but I do have a question!
My question is.. how do I upload an avatar? I can't seem to find it in my User CP.

Just for fun, here's a very short video of my two fuzz butts wrestling with each other.
