I've heard there is a catnip gene or sorts, that not all cats are attracted to it. Charlie has never been attracted to the catnip pillows weve had, they are the ones you buy for a couple of dollars with a handful of other toys. Im wondering if i should actually buy the spray or dried catnip, the real stuff, and see if he likes it. It's just that it isn't cheap, and if he doesnt like it, it will be a waste or money and product. Those pillows are mainly cotton, and i actually doubt if they have catnip in them at all.

Do any of your cats not react to it, and should i spend the money on the real stuff just to see what happens?

All three of mine react, so I've been lucky. The alternative would be to buy some honeysuckle toys and see if he gets a reaction from them.

I've never had any, so I can't attest to any of the items. I'm sure someone will spin around and give you more detail than I can.

My cats like catnip and honeysuckle alike. They go though spurts of liking one or the other more. I actually name my own catnip toys with old jeans and catnip in little pillows, I put lots of nip in them. They tend to drool and shnuddle them for a little while befor they get distracted by the birds outside.

The catnip toys are often poor quality catnip that's been sitting around for who knows how long.

My cats like dried organic catnip, I put their mice in a ziplock bag to marinate.

When i worked at animal aid we had square sections of carpet on the floor that's we'd sprinkle the dried catnip onto, and the cats would look like they were hving fits! Drop onto their sides and rub and rub and squirm around on the catnip till they'd had enough! lol

Maybe i will get some

I've tried every kind of catnip for my Bijou. She isn't the least bit intersested. I've tried the spray, dried from the health food store, I even grew Bijou her own catnip plant, but it's all a no go as far as she is concerned. She sniffs it, and just walks away.
