How can I remove misty water marks from dining room table finish?

Dearest Husband of Mine did it again: he installed an appliance this morning, and put the box on the dining room table, not realizing it was wet on the bottom (usually, when this happens, he DOES know, but does it anyway with cups, glasses, etc.). It left a film, about the size of a toaster oven base on the antique-it-was-a-wedding-gift-from-my-co-workers-dining room table
(can you feel the tooth-gritting here?). The table has a mahagony finish. Any ideas on how to remove the mark without refinishing?

Seems I read somewhere that you can spread something... baking soda, cornmeal, flour?... in a thickish layer across the stain, put a towel over it with something heavy for awhile, and it helps reabsorb the moisture from the wood. Maybe a site for a wood product like Scott's Liquid Gold or Murphy's Oil Soap would have some ideas...
