Kalli is 57 days today. So its not long at all untill kittens come. We are all axciousely waiting. She will be having them in the house, in her own little room. Right now we let her in there when she wants to come inside. But starting tomorrow she will be in there all of the time. We have tried many boxes with her, and she wasn't at all interested in any of them untill today. We used a box cut a square in the front of it for her to get in and out and it is closed on the top, but only because a rug is laying on it. So I can easily open the top of the box to see whats in there, so its a good one for the both of us. She has been sleeping in this all day. Originally we made the square too small and she managed to get her head , and front feet in, and when she got to her belly she got stuck.
So we had to make it bigger. Her food dish is right in front of the box w/ the water dish, and the litterbox is in a different space. So thats what we have for her in "her room" is there anything else I would need to put in there? And is there anything else I need to prepare for the birth? And what are all the signs that labor is coming, and when these signs happen, how far untill labor? (right now, she isn't having any milk coming out of her nipples, and her butt is clean) Also what is the average day that a cat gives birth? Another question (yep, i'm full of them,
) when a cat is pregnat with a larger litter, would she have them sooner or later, same with a smaller litter?

Well, the only suggestion I have at the moment is to move the food and water at least a few feet from the "birthing box", as she may not like the smell of food that near her newborns and move them. 2 of our 3 cats who had kittens came and got us when they went into labor, so that was our first sign!
"Meow- get in here! And stay here!" lol

Oh, and have on hand the number(s) to the vet you will need to call (either yours or the emergency clinic) incase she goes into labor at night, so you won't be searching for it if you need it
.

How exciting! Good luck!

The food and water dish currently are, but she sure doesn't like walking the couple of feet across her room to get to it. Lazy...and fat

I have a list of 30 vet numbers in our area and the surrounding areas written down and also on my cell phone. I've had them for a while, incase any one of our pets has an emergency.

Shes doing good today (at day 59). Eating right now I believe, her new favorite thing to do. She's become alot more affectionate in the last few days. I mean before she loved to be petted and held. Shes still the same now, but she doesn't want me to leave her side, at all. But she doesnt appear to be in labor or anything. And she isn't producing milk, her butt is clean still, and shes still eating normally. So ...

Do you know where Decorah is? I'm really close to that. But you probably wouldnt' reconize the name of my small town. I'm not too far from Cedar Rapids. And one of the other members on here is also from there.
Good luck to you and your cat!

As for today (day 60) shes normal again. No signs (which means i wont be cancelling my memorial day plans..) at all...

Thanks,
Nothing today yet, (day 62) shes sleeping on my lap as I write this. She keeps getting up and moving around trying to find a confortable place. I can feel the babies on my legs.

Sasha had a little discharge starting 4 days before she delivered... Missy didn't have any discharge until the day she delivered. Both girls were acting the same way, wouldn't let me leave their side, meowing constantly, etc. Sounds like Kalli is getting close!

Someone once told me that if it's abnormal for her, she's probably close
I knew Mushy was going to give birth because I would touch her to rub her belly, and she would immediately flip over and lay there while I rubbed it. She was just acting all around different.

Thanks

Shes doing fine

Well yesterday I kept thinking that it was 'the' day, but nothing happened after the discharge. I did stay up with her all night though.
Okay, so her belly is like hard, and usually is pretty hard, but its not that hard. If that makes any sense at all, so what does that mean?

could be the early start of contractions. when my foster went into labor, she was acting diff too. beggin for belly rubs, which she usually bit me for trying, lol. and her belly got hard about 12 hours before she went into full labor. she was a silly one and went into labor about 11am,lol. Good Luck!!!

Came back from the meeting, and we picked up some KMR and abottle just in case... But there still aren't any kittens; sounds like another sleepless night....

That's exactly what's going on in our house, with Fuchi. She's having discharge, contractions, sleepless nights, and panting - but no babies!

We're at 62 days today, I think a day behind you?

Good luck with everything!
