We all just got home from the hospital earlier tonight, and everything went well. The biopsy went as well as hoped for. They kept him for about 5 hours afterwards and did chest x-rays every two hours to make sure that lung didn't try to collapse, but everything went just fine!

We're supposed to have the results of the biopsy either Wednesday afternoon or sometime Thursday, so if I haven't already exhausted all of my prayer requests so far, please keep my family in your thoughts.
Hopefully its something non-serious that can be fixed easily.

Thank you all for all of the support so far, it means the world to me!!

Thank you all so much for all of your prayers!

The doctor called last night, and its cancer.
He thinks it may have already spread to his lymph nodes and he wants to do a bone scan this week to see if its spread even farther. We don't have any idea of a prognosis yet, he's waiting for an appointment with the Cancer Specialist and then I guess we'll know more about what we're looking at.

He's doing really well, and was in high spirits this morning aggravating the snot out of anyone who would listen.
I've been sick since I found out the news. Really really sick. I don't know how I'm going to deal with this.

I got some awesome news for my Birthday today!!

Papa finally saw the cancer specialist today, and the cancer HAS NOT spread to his bones!!
It's currently in that spot on the top of his left lung and in his lymph (sp?) nodes right above his lungs, and the doctor said that if that is it that its curable!

The doctor said that lung cancer likes to spread to the adrenal glands, and one of Papa's is a little bigger than the other so sometime this week they are going to do a scan of those (I think a PET scan). IF the cancer has spread to his adrenal glands, its not curable but the doctor said that they could control it and keep it from getting any worse than it is.

So, while its not the most ideal news in the world, it sure made my day! Things are definitely looking better!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and vibes! They have meant the world to me.

That is certainly hopeful news, it could be so much worse, My Dad has just been diagnosed with lung cancer too and his went to the 2 lymph nodes near the lungs too, his is in one of the branches in his bronchial tube. It is nowhere else in his body, after a petscan of his body and an MRI of his brain Thank God. Let us know how the Petscan goes, I will certainly remember your Papa in my prayers.

Have they discussed chemo or radiation with him? He's so young too @ 62 he should do really well

I'm so glad to hear that your Dad's hasn't spread. Its so scary isn't it?

When they do the PET scan they are going to run an MRI of his brain as well, but the doc said he's really sure that there should be nothing there. His main concern is that adrenal gland. They discussed the Chemo and radiation with him a little but didn't want to go to in depth until after they got the results of these other tests. How are they going about treating your Dad?

The doctors seem really optimistic, which gives me and my family a lot of hope. His specialist said that there is an awesome chance of putting it in remission if it isn't in that gland. That was better news than I was expecting. I guess you just always brace for the worst you know?

Keep me updated on your Dad, I'll keep him in my prayers. It's a scary scary ordeal.
