Is anyone else as hyped as I am about this.
I pre-ordered it on the 1st day I was able too. It will be delivered to my door on the release date. I am just about to start re-reading the entire series to get primed for the release. (July 21st release date)

Anyone else a Harry fan? Which was your fav book? (mine was #4) Do you like the movies? (IMO - not as good as the books - especially #4)

We're doing a huge party at work for it at midnight on the 21st. (night of the 20th) for all the preorderers here.

Supposedly I'm supposed to wear a costume to work. What should I be? Hermione would be by far the easiest but I'm afraid people won't even realize I'm in costume!

I am very excited, but sad too
I don't want the series to end!! JK Rowling is truly a gifted author
I like the movies, but like you said, they are in NO WAY as good as the books. I'll probably borrow it from someone to read, so it might be awhile before I actually do read it, when they come out with a complete boxed set I will buy it though

you could go as Madame Sprout, Julie!

I loved the first 3 books. The next one I still really liked. Then I found the other ones weren't quite as fun, as they got more into the politics and Harry's stress, etc. I guess I found the early books to be more escapist reading.

I must admit, I'm also a bit confused as to where I left off with the books. Since I've seen the movies and read so many books, I've forgotten what happened in the last book?! I think I may have to read the half-blood prince again....

Wishing I were anywhere but here
I absolutely love Harry Potter!
And to think I used to hate it!
I thought because they were books written for children I wouldn't like them, but boy was I suprised!
I am about to reread the whole series so I can get ready for book 7! FINALLY! I am excited, but sad, because I know that it will come to an end and once you read it, your hope of a continuation dies along with it.
Book #4 is my favorite book. It has action, suspense, humor, and it's just creepy at the end, but I love it!
I think the movies bring the books alive, but there is so much that doesn't go in and I don't think they do the books justice. I absolutely hate the third movie. I think it was badly written and jumps around so much that if you hadn't read the book you would not know what is going on and how or why something happens. I can't even watch that one anymore.
I preordered on the first day also and am thrilled that it will arrive on the release date!

OMG! I am so excited about Harry Potter's last book. I just hope I will have time to read it since the book comes out while I'm back in school. ehhh...maybe I'll right the final paper on harry potter...it would be for an internal audit class

"As prefect, Ron called Harry for the internal audit for Gryffindor. Hogwarts follows the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and only Harry and Hermione are certified auditors for Gryffindor. they quickly discovered that Draco Malfoy had unauthorized access through floo to...."

ehh...brainstorm over.

As soon as I finish the current book I am reading I will be restarting the series. I want the whole series fresh in my mind when I read the last book. I should be starting book 1 by the weekend.

How many people here actually think this is going to be the last book? How many people have went into retirement, swearing they would never come out, only to announce soon after retirement they were coming out? At the very least, I do not believe this will be her last book, Harry Potter or not.

I don't believe it will be her last book, but I seriously think that she is done with HP. She is going to get out while there is still interest and leave people wanting more.

Then again she has enough money that she'll never have to work again if she doesn't want to. Doesn't she have 2 young children with her new husband and her child from her previous marriage?

I am so excited! I'm going to the midnight release. I haven't done it before and this is my last chance! I am sad for it to be over, though.
I've just been reading the books over again a few times before the last book and going on to forums and discussing theories and stuff.

JKR has made it pretty clear there are 7 books in the Harry Potter series but maybe she will write some text books like the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages that's she's written.

I'm definitely a fan, but I haven't pre-ordered, and I'm not going to any midnight book purchasing. It will be all over in the stores, if it's anything like the last one. I didn't think I would like them, and got started late reading them (after all but the last one was out), but each one has gotten better and better.

I agree. I rushed to buy the last one the day it came out, and they never ran out! I read all day and finished the book later that evening!

I loved them all....5 was the least exciting for me...until the end of it!

Well, I am not rushing to the store - they will deliver it to my door the day it is released....for free as I put it on a order above a certain $ amount that allows for free shipping.

I'm going this year to the midnight release just for the experience.
Last year we had it pre-ordered months in advance, then rushed over to the book store ASAP when I woke up in the morning and paid a lot of cash for it, only to go to Target later the same day and see a bunch of copies for much less than what we paid earlier.
This year I just really want to go to the midnight release. I want to go there and pull an all-nighter devouring the book, then maybe take a nap and finish the last bits or read it again depending on if I finished before the nap. Of course I will reread it no matter what.

I've read all of the books so many times that i don't have to reread them. lol. and since the fourth one i have bought it the first day their out and pull an all-nighter reading it. i pre-ordered it from borders an i get 40% off, so instead of spending $35.00 i only have to spend $22. yay. and once i get it i will pull an all-nighter and read it. then let jake read it, then daniel probably, then i'm most likely going to read it again. and i'm going to save up enough money to buy a hardbound box set when it comes out. just so i have it.
