My wife brought a kitten home from work a couple nights ago. She says its around 7 weeks old. The kitten was stuck in her car engine. The only reason she noticed was the mother cat came out from beneath her car so she decided to check under her hood for any other cats.

The mother cat high tailed it away. There was another kitten in the engine as well and her co-worker took that kitten home.

Any ways, we brought the kitten home and it seems to be eating solid foods and drinking fine. I know 7 weeks is pretty young but after calling the vet they said she should be okay because she is eating/drinking. Tomorrow we have an appointment to get it checked out.

So I am wondering if we are doing the right thing by taking it in or should we return it to the mother? We already have two other cats, both around 3 years old. I don't forsee them having problems as our cats aren't hostile, just curious. Do you think it would be wise to introduce the kitten to the cats after the checkup and see if they can help with the kittens development?

Also, do you think it would help we if had the other kitten her co-worker has? She apparently already has 5 cats and would be willing to give the kitten to us if we wanted.

Thanks for your advice!

That's up to you if you want 2 kittens. Don't introduce them to your cats till they've been checked out by your vet and given shots. Then introduce them slowly.

In both cases, you have other cats that can teach the kitten what he/she should know.

BTW we need pictures
Is your kitten male or female? And no I would not return it to the mother cat (she needs to be trapped, spayed and released if she's a ferel cat).

Congrats on the new addition!
Definitely keep the newest member from your other cats until the vet appointment.

I don't think it's bad idea to take the other kitten as well. It should help in the transition.

Good luck!! Oh and don't forget pictures!!
