Yesterday someone from an employment agency left me a mesage about a job I had applied for. I called her back this morning, thinking she probably just wanted me to sign up for the agency in general, rather than for that particular job.

Well, no. She wants me to come in today for a job interview.

I wouldn't be too nervous normally, but given that I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night, it should be interesting. They might end up interviewing a zombie.

The job seems alright (small office, pays well, that's about all I know right now) but it's only for 3-4 months. Still, I'd take it. If I get the job, it would start tomorrow.
The person I would be replacing is moving out of town and wants to give the new employee a day of training. Yep, a whole day.

Good luck. It sounds like they were impressed with your resume. Just be yourself and you'll be fine!

Over the river and through the woods...
Drink lots of coffee and good luck! Sounds like they were pretty impressed. Don't worry about just a day of training. In a small office, there should always be someone to ask if you have questions. Congrats!

Don't drink too much caffiene....I did that on an interview and was bouncing off the walls.

Just remember to take deep breaths as you walk in and just have fun with the interview...don't be too nervous with it.

Thanks.

I'm just wondering since the interview is at 4:30pm today (combined with tests for Excel / Word, grammar), and they need someone for tomorrow... they'll have to make a decision quick!!
and I guess I don't even get to meet the employer.

Ah well, I'll just do my best and see what happens.

Actually - if your interview is that late, it sounds like a good chance that you'll be hired, unless they have interviews set up all day.

Wow, I just came back from an interview this morning myself. Hope things go well for you.

Just be confident in your interview. Whether your tired or wired really makes no difference as long as you have confidence. You don't HAVE to take the job, and they WANT you (otherwise they wouldn't be interviewing you), so you're on the higher ground.

Also be careful with contracting companies. They're making money off of you, so they will want to rush things and get you working as soon as possible. Don't let them man-handle you, just go it at your own pace. If they don't like it, then move on and find something else. If you let them do as they like, they'll just continue to underpin you once you're hired. Contracting companies are everywhere, and if you're ready they can put you in a job the next day you talk to them.

thanks.

it's 2pm now, I rested for a little while (but didn't sleep much) now I'm still tired. All I want to do is sleep, but I can't!

well, the heat isn't helping much. Hopefully once I'm in an air-conditioned building, it'll be better.

ok, I guess I just need to quiet down, have a little snack, some tea and then get dressed and ready to go.

I think I'm weird. I don't own a purse, or any "elegant" bag really. I guess I'll have to go with a sport-type shoulder bag. It's clean though and rarely used. Hopefully that wont clash too much with my interview clothes.
My dress shoes were actually covered with dust too.

I'm back. I think it went well, but the whole thing is kind of strange. The company is hiring through an employment agency, the woman at the agency was given very little info on the job, really. So she'll send my resume to them and they'll decide based on that, I guess. By tomorrow. Now that's thinking ahead.

Anyways, I'm also now signed up with the employment agency (third one so far). The woman was nice, but she seemed really set on finding me a data-entry job, even if I told her I mostly wanted general office (with a variety of tasks). But I guess most people who hire from temp agencies don't want to do any training.

I know for some state positions here they hire through temp agencies actually. I think they like to use them to screen cantidates and things. I hope something comes through for you soon!

I just wanted to add in that I went through one of those hiring agencies. I personally actually had better luck finding a job on my own. But hey I guess it all depends on the situation, because my boyfriend once went through one and got a job like that day pretty much.

Whatever you do, don't just settle for the first thing that comes along. Make sure its the right one! And Good Luck!
